I am not a fan of paddle leashes, Entanglement issues.
I always carry a spare paddle.
I have a gnarly paddle float story that justifies carrying an inflatable paddle float.

If (when) you capsize, it may be an idea to hang onto the boat. I am a poor swimmer so catching a wind blown kayak would be a neet trick.
The paddle float rescue is not an easy one.
