Whoever said there's a need to kill the seals to protect cod, I'd like to say this. Cod is almost extint not because of the seals. Cods are going to be extint because of humans over fishing the oceans. I'm sick of hearing humans absurd remarks about how much more important they are over animals. Animals are there for a reason and nature has it's own way to control everything. How about controlling human population?

It's not just beacuse those animals are cute and lovely, but because those bastards kill them with such awfull way and for nothing! We dont need this meat or fur, they kill them just for money and only money!

But the money is to feed their families, you're obviously not from eastern Canada where the economy is so bad (worse than everywhere else) that there are only a few jobs left if you live outside of St. John's, and this is one of them

Really? Newfoundland & Labrador have recently made the biggest GDP gains among Canadian provinces (a whopping 9.1 percent in 2007).

Canadian fishermen are responsible for fishing our cod stocks to near-extinction. They are obviously unwilling or unable to be responsible stewards of our natural resources.

Give them the chance and I'm sure they'd hunt our seal stocks to extinction. Next, perhaps, polar bears?

@SealGloves but i have no problem with them killing them but they clobber the things at least 2 or more times to kill it i understand that if they shoot it it messes up the pelt but imagine if u had a choice of death hit in the head with a club a couple times or a gun shot to the head these seals don't even have a choice animals in general don't have a choice people on the other hand have a choice but what i think is clubbing them should be illegal

Everyone should watch at least one slaughter video, you will not believe your eyes. Then watch them being skinned alive. This is why we fight the slaughter, there is no more heinous act on this earth. And remember one thing, if this does not bother you, if a human can commit this type of violence against an animal, how vicious do you suppose they are to other defenseless innocents? Pray for the children.

Remember first time I heard about the seals in Canada, many years ago when Greenpeace paid some hunters to kill some baby seals and the made a video of it!!!
