  • There seems to be a big misconception here.

    You can drive all you want and not warm your car up. Just don't rev the piss out of it when it's cold outside. There is oil pressure at cranking RPM, if there wasn't, a lot of people would have very noisy valves.

    Oil temperature affects lubricity and viscosity of oil, so just be smart. I wouldn't hesitate to give this car WOT after 30 seconds after the first crank.

  • you should let your car warm up before you pull stuff like that, it's one of the worst things to do to your engine ):

  • no way man, my car likes it cold

  • suit yourself, letting your car warm up prolongs the life of your car substantially so i was just suggesting it.

  • the temp was already at 150-160 degrees, it's fine

  • new vehicles with OBD2 run better cold, the whole let your car warm up is for the days of the carbuerators. Many people dont realize this though. If you do some research youll see what i man. You dont need to warm your car up anymore with newer vehicles for it to run nice, unless you have a low battery or a check engine light, then you should let her warm up.

  • well you still decrease the life of your car considering when you just punch it after a cold start, all the oil is still at the bottom of the oil pan and your engine isn't properly lubricated causing friction between the pistons and cylinders.

  • @crestfallenode wait hold up low battery? i have a 99 cobra wit 33k miles, like new. i just got my IAC valve fixed but when i first start it up in the beginning of the day it still idles really like down to like 200 then back up then down then back up etc. and if i dont sit for a few minutes and just take off, it will shut off once or maybe twice and after that its fine the rest of the day.. what is my problem?

  • hey man i had the sameee exact problem it happened after getting a new intake. What happens is either the car is not tuned for the intake or the tune is faulty, if its stock then its just plain crappin out. 99% of the time it is the tps which is the throttle position center. I changed it and bam i was good. They usually run 30-80 dollars including install.

  • thanks man. yea its a 99 which is the year they recalled the intake manifold and the original owner did replace it because of the dot on it. unless you mean cold air intake which is stock for now. but after i got the IAC fixed it got better but does it a little bit. the only thing that hasnt changed is the dying out if i dont sit for a few minutes.
