You are right. We are actually well north of Minnesota but kept temperate in the winter by ocean currents while summer is 'almost normal' by N.A. standards.
It's refreshing to see adults in a city actually enjoying the snow. When you get as much as we get in the northeast USA it stops being fun. Would LOVE to see London on a snow day. its probably the only thing that could make a beautiful city even more enchanting.
i loved that day! Our school feild was full with snow, we made a massive snowman. I'm so happy we had snow this year cos we never really do ,all we have is ice .
Ah c'mon stop taking the piss outta us ¬__¬'. It is cold coz we don't have weather like this. We're sorry if our country doesn't have frequent snow and therefore makes us pansies. We enjoy snow much more than you guys anyway.
ok first of all, you're all pansies. 6 inches of snow? not even! you can see the sidewalk in most of that. try coming to canada, eh. we get 6 inches a week. at least. if i walked outside right now there are 2 meter snow banks everywhere. the city shut down? ridiculous. preposterous even. doesn't anybody know how to deal with snow? its cool that youre all having fun and shit, and thats a nice vid. but seriously im flabbergasted that this is a big deal for britain.
The thing is that we get all types of crappy weather imaginable in the UK. In the last ten years we've had floods, droughts, storm force winds, temperatures close to 40c, snow, hail even bloody tornadoes! (one caused damage across Birmingham recently) If we prepared ourselves for all that we'd have no money to buy beer and we love beer!
Having said that all we get in Manchester is constant drizzle....all.....year....long!
Hear hear! I'm south of the border in Boston and we were laughing and shaking our heads watching the news: thus far we've been through at least five huge dumpings of snow since xmas (and we're due for another soon.) The Charles River is mostly frozen over and my driveway looks like a hockey rink. Worse, in summer we have to deal with the occasional hurricane (imagine a huge oak tree falling on your home and a storm powerful enough to carry off your car and know why I have evac routes mapped out!
Dear all Canadians, American's and Russian's! Yeah - It is all media hype rubbish - there was over a foot [30cm] of snow in some places and because this has been hyped up by the media to the wider-world it gives the opportunity for many other countries to have a dig at England - I tell you one thing for nothing and there are more embarassing things to have a dig at in our country than the snow! - We do not get much snow due to the Gulf - Stream if you know your Georgraphy!
OMG I cannot believe I was in London so many times and I neve experienced snow like this... I am sooo jealous... all we have is sunshine and rain argh! (Barbados)
I keep reading/hearing about how much yesterday cost the economy, but I'm not sure it matters. Seems to me like this Random Act of Snow did more to cheer folks up than Christmas did!

As far as I understand the weather in England is very regular. meaning, not so cold winters and not so hot sumers. am I right?

You obviously don't know England's weather then. A whole lot of snow is rare for us.

bloody brilliant! I love how Londoners respond to snow--we take advantage of every drop while you can and WHEN you can!
By the way isn't the date on this video wrong???? Shouldn't it be 2009? :)
