  • There was a little too much rimshot in the ship sinking part and the notes could have been muddled together a little more to get that chaotic feel, but it was pretty good! I'm guessing you guys didn't use a hand-siren?

  • im in my high school band and we are playing this piece for concert contest. im a senior now and i remember playing this exact song my freshmen year. i love it. it's not a hard piece but it makes you think a lot about intonation, dynamics and such.

  • our band actually heard this 2 days ago at the GMEA convention :P it sounded awesome

  • we were supposed to play it for concert band competition but our band fails. Dx ahaha but i love this song.

  • Haha same here but not for judging. MY band teacher doesn't like that stuff. We're just going on the trip and preforming XD

  • I loved this song!! I played it in the 8th grade concert band. It was very fun. I played french horn.

  • me too! although it was freshman year.. yeah horns!

  • i love this piece. were working on it in symphonic band. i play the baritone horn in this. i love this piece and it has to be one of my favorites

  • i remember playing this song back in high school. actually that was our show for marching band.

  • the UNA 9th grade band played this..... i love this song..... everyone said we sounded like professionals even the director

  • Even if the timpani was sharp you got to realize that this is a recording which means the instrumentation is going to be more sharp than usual

  • That was....

    Bad

  • actually it was pretty good im especially impressed of the clarinet section. They pulled the parts together well even mixing with the flutes which made an amazing melody and harmony after the sirens flaring and the ships sinking even together with the other parts

  • That's definitely Swearingen. You guys did a good job!

  • timpani is really sharp by the way

  • Actually, the timpani are on the wrong pitch altogether!!!

  • once again mr. hiyane is cycling through his same music. Perhaps next year it's going to be to tame the perilous skies

  • Yeah, he likes to conduct that song. I remember having to play it for freshman year and i know we played it earlier this year. Shaina's got it hard though - she's in wind ensemble and symphonic band.

And I was lucky enough to be spared having to play tame the perilous skies! Light eternal is getting a bit too over-played though.
