  • I just got my hands on The first Deus ex title, I played on realistic difficulty and wanted to go non-lethal, my my I am getting my ass handed to em' at the first level!

  • What stats did you start with? I can't tell.

  • @NerfedFalcon I have an annotation at the beginning for that.

  • Is the GEP gun the rocket launcher you use to get into the ship in part 2? Coz I chose the crossbow :) Need to find more lockpicks if I can't get this weapon later on.

  • @FibrousAcquiescence Yes, the GEP gun is the rocket launcher. As a fellow YouTube user pointed out, you can also gain access to the ship by pushing a nearby explosive barrel towards the hatch and then shooting it, assuming it still exists.

  • Why is your menu blue? Mine is grey.

I've seen someone do a walkthrough with a multiplayer tab.

  • When i was young i played this when i was 8 and it scared the shit out of me. also i could never make the first level

  • So do you think Manderly told Gunter to get captured on purpose as part of the test? I kind of think myself seeing as he could had an EMP barrier installed before you have to fight him .

  • Wow... "Skilled" does not even begin to cover this. You are incredible.

  • man i played this game when i was a youngster, back in 2000, now that i played Deus Ex Human Rev. on the Ps3 i came back to this game and the developers at eidos made a really good job bringing back the original Deus Ex gameplay, nice work for them.

    Great video!

  • 6:09 everything was clear an hour ago, then boom! at the same time u jumped on that wooden crate and broke it lols XD

  • Was this run completely unmodded?

I feel like the graphics look better than normal.

  • @thatcacti Yes, completely unmodded.

  • i never played Deus Ex before, but goddamn i wanna play this one, HR alone made me a fan, even though it isnt the original which without a doubt i would love

  • Never mind, ha ha. Sorry, I'm playing on low quality because my Internet connection sucks, so I miss some of the intricacies of your video. Great work so far, thanks for the help!

  • How did you open that hatch near the UNATCO headquarters with the key ring? It never works for me...

  • Nonleathal?? Who are you?? Gandhi? Shoot them motherfuckers!!

  • @djuuwi I am Mahatma Gandhi, coming to honor all the NSF with my life-preserving presence.

  • Best game...ever!

  • deus ex 3 is a steaming pile of shit compared to this game.... graphics be damned.

  • @shido534 hey man what's the advantage & disadvantage of going non-lethal?

do u get more money or stuff?

  • @BabaelCraig14 No, you don't get more money or stuff.

  • @shido534 ok thx man

  • @BabaelCraig14 You're morally clean; you don't need to reward it in any other way.

  • @BabaelCraig14 Also, more challenge=more fun (except when you're easily frustrated)

  • This game would have been soo badass on a Sega Dreamcast back in the dizzay!

  • What is a GEP gun, like a weapon that fires pressure blasts similar to concussion grenades?

  • @Dandramere I don't know if you're saying you hate people that talk during LPs or what, but, if you are, do you even know what a Let's Play is? There's SUPPOSED to be commentary, for a walkthrough, there is not.

  • @dderkas Unfortunately, it doesn't seem as if most users care about that distinction because the majority of so-called "walkthroughs" I've seen for DXHR contain annoying commentary that I can't stand.

  • @shido534 when my new gfx card comes, ill do one with a COMPLETELY OPTIONAL (aka a different video) commentary track.

  • Nice to find an LPer who actually knows how to play and doesn't love the sound of his own stupid fucking voice and shit jokes. :D Good work.

  • this game is so prophetic

  • at 04:05 you have secret door left from that small crate. Inside there is a medical bot.

  • @salke1 There is another container like that elsewhere in the level, but I don't think they are worth the lockpicks or explosives.

  • @shido534 Yea there is. And at 09:49 where you have destroyed medical crate there is a boat, or something like that at the bottom of the river, you just need to jump over the fence. In the boat you will find sawed-off shotgun. ( Sorry if I didnt write correct) Anyway, you are realy good at this great game.

  • are you going to do a nonlethal walkthrough for Deus Ex Human Revolution? I own a crap computer so I properly won't get to play it, if I'm going to watch a Deus Ex playthrough I want to watch yours.

  • GreatDane misses this game

  • This game looks pretty cool especially because it has a crowbar as the first weapon which should be mandatory for every game but stepping in grass sounds like stomping through a forest in October.

  • Deus Ex 3 in a few days, absoutely cannot wait!!!!

  • This had to take some practice.

  • When I first saw the crowbar, the first thing that came to mind was: Gordon Freeman!!

  • Best Deus Ex walkthrough. Good job dude.

  • the sound they make when their knock them out cracks me up lol =D

  • Still the best Deus Ex playthrough on Youtube even after 3 years.

  • Just wanted to say that I really enjoyed your walkthrough! I love this game and played it through many times myself, but this is really non lethal at its best. Very elegant.

  • How do you throw things away without going into the menu?

  • @psx2514 By pressing the "drop item" key.

  • What resolution you used for this video?

  • It was an awesome walkthrough, finished it and went back to this first video to comment. I wish more people would do these Let's Plays without goddamned commentating.

  • How the hell did the bot in 8:55 not spot you?

  • @DoctorObviously That's a friendly bot.

  • Why did you attack the 2 guys talking about Gunther if you're going for a non lethal approach? You can sneak past those guys without any problems.

  • @KeksusGSPB Tranquilizer darts can be useful, especially in the early parts of the game. It's not like using a few units of pepper spray on sitting ducks is a difficult feat, or like putting someone to sleep would kill them.

  • @shido534

Actually putting someone to sleep counts as casualties in this mission. Have you tried stunning all terrorists in this mission? Paul will complain about all the dead people when talking to you later. Also just entering Castle Clinton in Mission 2 counts as killing all terrorists in Castle Clinton.

  • @KeksusGSPB I have tried knocking out everybody in a mission, and it's actually Gunther and Navarre who raise the "casualty count" for you.

  • fast playstyle, no retarded commentary = perfect playthrough

  • i always like to drink a lot of forty. nothing like a drunk agent on stealth ops.

  • the guy who voices to denton isnt the same who voiced john mullins?

  • I want to give this a shot now that I've forgotten what your playthrough looked like, but I came to see what you got as your first skills. If you're going nonlethal, why put a point in pistol instead of low-tech?

  • @DarkRaiiin There's a glitch that upgrades the pistol skill without costing any skill points, and I didn't want to exploit it. I should probably find a concise way to describe that.

  • @shido534 Oh, I see. Makes sense. It IS quite a dated game.

Thank you for the swift response.

  • For the record, an easy way to get to the medbot at the beginning of the first level is to chuck one of the TNT crates off to the right hand path(right hand assuming you're coming from the direction of the dock) at the door - the med bot is invincible. You'll probably get your legs blown off, but hell, that's what med bots are for!

  • "Remember that were police. Stick with the prod" POLICE MY ASS!

  • @jcdenton100 lol thats right bitches! all of u dumbasses put ur fucking hand on the gound or im gonna pump u right up with a full clip of lead!

  • "one can be too self-sufficient I believe"

  • Sorry that I don't know, but what exactly is Deus Ex? Just wondering with all the news about Human Revolution coming out.

  • @Sup750 I think you'll find a better answer outside of YouTube.

  • @Sup750 message me for the details about the game. I cant put all of it on this.

  • @Sup750

    What is Deus Ex?

Well the short answer would be: IT'S THE BEST FUCKING GAME EVER MADE PERIOD !

  • Wow, graphics improved over the years! I have Invisible War....

  • you would knock them down faster if you hit them from behind not the front cause the back is the weak point.

  • man this game robot is so beast you should see the huge robot in hong kong so awesome.!

  • you know how people read lord of the rings once a year.. like a kinda ritual. Well.. i watch this once... (maybe twice) a year, and will probs continue to do so forever :)

  • @hunkyzombie

You watch a walk through of Deus Ex once a year?

  • @Jammed9000 pretty much.. with a playthrough like this, you get all the convos, all the story, and enjoyable to watch skillz :) Wish he'd do more games.

  • @hunkyzombie

I hope he does Deus Ex 3.

  • wish i had this game maby they sell in best buy btw witch game was this?

  • @coolsnape Just ask a Best Buy employee for the latest release of "Leisure Suit Larry."

  • respect

  • Oh my god lol I didn't know you could do that with the pepper gun xD No wonder the enemies range of view sucks

  • A pistol with only 6 rounds? Might as well just give you a revolver...

The NSF are the real patriots.

  • I never knew about all those extra conversations with Paul. Thats great.

  • These videos are awesome. I played through this game years ago, with a combat-oriented aug/skill set. These vids have inspired me to try it again with a more stealthy style of play. Should be interesting... Thanks for sharing!

  • Stick with the prod...

  • Works like charm on W7 x64..! ;-D Is killing of a bot violent?

  • @qwercz1 Violent? Maybe. Does it cost any human life? No.

  • Shame the dialogue in DS3 won't be as good as this. They just go for the eye-candy bullshit and batman voice.

  • best game in human history

  • Actually i made this level and saved Ghunter without killing/knocking out ANYONE. You can do it too. You made like 5 kills. And yes, game treats knock-out as a kill.

  • @qbz32 No, I made zero kills. If one knocks out every NSF grunt on the level, then Paul will say "You're doing well so far," as opposed to "You killed a lot of people tonight."

  • @shido534 lol thats what i got

  • ya know, i never have to reinstall deus ex any more, all i do is come back to this series :) for 'tis so good! :D

  • 9:27 surprise buttsecks!

  • Nice videos mate :)

  • reminds me of perfect dark

  • I get goosebumps just watching the start of this epic game again. Best single player game ever still.

  • Damn I played the PS2 version...need to pick this version up

  • Nonlethal runs are basically the point of my gaming experience...it's the ultimate level of precision and control as far as I can see it.

  • damn never played this but after the first 3 min i think ill love this !! i guess im the only guy who was born in the 90's and loves the old games more then the new ones :O

  • If not the best game of all time, one of the best.. But so damn hard!

  • Excellent vid :) Very entertaining, and I like the comments.

  • As an added challenge you could try to not destroy any bots, except with EMP charges.

  • can you install this on windows 7

  • @TheMikon Not sure about other versions, but the Steam one does.

  • @shido534 thank you I know they came out with a complete version that has Invisible war also are you looking forward to Deus Ex 3

  • @TheMikon I haven't been paying that much attention to it but I'm anxious to see some reviews after it's released.

  • @shido534 I think it will be a little wierd being mechanical augmented instead of nano augmented. I just hope they keep it as intriging as the other 2

  • @TheMikon

Available on Steam for $9,99 USD

    /app/6910/

  • @TheMikon

Hey there! If you havent tried already, the normal retail version works on Win7 flawlessly as well. It even supports 16:10 widescreen formats and stuff.

  • @TheMikon I have it on Windows 7. Works fine.

  • @TheMikon Yeah. You can install the original, game of the year and whatnot on windows 7. This is my ninth time playing it on the same OS.

  • @TheMikon

    Nonsteam works even on x64

  • are you using a hotkey to organise items into belt slots, or is that a video editing trick? If it is a keyboard shortcut, what is it?

  • @Plausiblesarge Use the number keys when you have an item selected in the inventory to designate a belt slot for that item.

  • @shido534 thanks

  • =Why choose pistol skill over low-tech? You would benefit the baton, prod, pepper, and DTS instead of just crossbow

=Why buy darts from both people? You hardly end up using them

=Why get lockpicking and electronics? With the GEP you hardly need either at the start of the game. I think advanced environmental training would be useful for rebreathers and thermo optic camo

I just got this game a week ago during a steam sale for 2.50 so excuse me if I'm being naive about some of this stuff

  • @AzuraNebula There's a glitch that upgrades the pistol skill to Trained even if you don't allocate anything to it, and I didn't want to exploit it. I stock up some darts in case because they're cheap and if anything goes wrong, I may end up using many of them. Firing the GEP gun alerts enemies within a pretty large radius, and not all locks can be destroyed. Throughout this walkthrough you'll see that I do use explosives instead of lockpicks or multitools whenever viable.

  • 9:29 Right up the ass.

  • you sir.. have amazing skill at this game :) hope you find the new one as compelling when it comes out!

  • Im Batman..uhh..I mean JC Denton

  • Mini-crossbow and taser buddy. ;3 And never underestimate the use of LAMS as lock-picks.

  • Why pistol? You'll never need it in nonlethal o.o

  • @OMGitsFMA6666 Are you talking about the skill? If so, it's for the mini-crossbow.

  • @shido534 Yeah, but the blackjack/prod are the needed weapons, and both will OHKO most grunt units, and the prod especially will take out MiB/WiB/Commandos. Beside the fact that the crossbows tranq bolt takes people down dreadfully slow. I just think taking swimming would've been more useful. (I know you will probably take the Aqualung aug, but still.)

Also, wow can't believe you respond to things on a 2 year old video.

  • @OMGitsFMA6666 I didn't want to exploit the bug that causes the pistol skill to be upgraded without allocating any points into it, and the crossbow does become useful later in the game. Also, I don't need swimming; I traversed the underwater tunnels under VersaLife and by the cathedral just fine.

  • Gordon freeman`s crowbar. lol

la palanca de gordon freeman LoL

  • If the beginning scene showing the plans of Maj12 was not there, the story would have been much more mysterious, and ultimately, better.

  • @fonkymaster It doesn't give that much away. The only spoilerish thing is you know Walton Simons is bad when you first meet him when he comes to interrogate the NSF prisoner and depending on how much you pay attention Maggie Chow.

  • "Buying into the cult of the machine will make us like them!"

    What, winners?

  • 9:10 *ahem* ZAP! lol

  • Replaced half his face!

  • Deus Ex, Thief 1 & 2, System Shock 2... the late 90's and early millennium years was arguable the golden era of gaming. I'm sick and tired of all this regurgitated bullshit that gets released upon us like tidal wave.

  • @YukonTrooper I agree with you wholeheartedly. I have recently seen some screen shots of Deus Ex 3, and damn it looks hot! I hope they keep the Deus Ex classic game play intact...if so it may be the greatest game of all time. only game i am actually looking forward to, i have given up on all other games.

  • @HangTheScientologist Brink looks awesome too.

  • @YukonTrooper make that the early 90s to early noughties...coz there were great games like duke nukem 3d, doom, quake, in those early 90s too.

  • @YukonTrooper well you would think that because you ethier grew up in that period of gaming thats why its impossible to say what years where the best

  • @IrishRouge17 No, you don't have to grow up in a particular era of gaming to claim that it was the best. I'm a FPS gamer who was raised with Wolf3D, Doom and Quake, but I agree with YukonTrooper.

  • @YukonTrooper Unfortunately nowadays it's all graphics graphics graphics and gimmicks gimmicks gimmicks (like Wii controller, 3D gaming etc.) rather than quality gameplay, story, exploration and pacing.

  • @YukonTrooper Couldn't agree with you more!

  • @YukonTrooper Finally a person who knows what gaming is.

  • @YukonTrooper Those such as Call of Duty are an example.

  • @YukonTrooper You are right. I miss the times where games still had a "soul". Today everything is about graphics and not gameplay anymore. Above all First Person Shooters are all the same, all want to be "Call of Duty" like.

  • @YukonTrooper Exactly! Most modern games looks and feel the same way and no revolutionary new ideas.

  • @YukonTrooper

right you are those are all classic well-deserving of their accolades.

  • @YukonTrooper

I hear you. Games around that time were amazing. Now, we got all this online FPS games and the only thing they're good for is nothing but the same old online multiplayer.

  • @YukonTrooper the question is which is better thief gold or thief 2? :???!

  • @YukonTrooper I have great memories from the early millennium years, but I have to say that the 90's in general were the golden era of gaming to me.

  • RE4 inventory system FTW

  • lol "then...BOOM" *steps on crate and breaks it* xD

  • pistol bug? lockpicking bug? electronics bug?

  • @juggalo19931 A quick Google search will help you find details on those bugs.

  • deus ex is the best game ive played in my life.. im even doing (trying) to do a mod of deus ex to the cryengine 2

  • lol, here is 60 for tranq darts

so much for that minimal force aproach....

would u prefer i used a pillow to bludgen them unconcious

  • why do you waste the stun stick ammo on them, just baton them in the head from behind, its an instal ko too

  • @SkyHiRider It's not a waste because on Realistic with untrained low-tech weaponry, it's not an "instal ko."

  • @shido534 odd, when I tried it on Realistic it always worked for me. Is it random?

  • What resolution do you play the game on?

  • @xjod9 640x480, so that the HUD wouldn't be too small. When I'm not recording, however, I would play on 1280x960.

  • I can't hear that song anymore without thinking "Put on a trench coat, and fight some conspiracies..."

  • Hey, does anyone know what the flares are really for? I have found use for the flare darts, but the flares: no. Are they just usefull for lighting?

  • @KajsSwedishMeatBalls Flares can also distract enemies.

  • I've pulled a nonlethal on easy, but on realistic? =O

Anyhow, this is a great game. DX2 was still a good game, but this one was 100x better. Glad to see you're doing both, though.

Well, I'll shut up now. Ima go watch the entire nonlethal walkthrough. =D

One last thing. Have you tried System Shock 2?

  • @nomwalla I haven't played any System Shock games but I definitely intend to when a good opportunity presents itself.

  • You can also avoid the thugs on the north dock at 8:55. Right after stepping on to the dock, jump left into the water. Swim down to where you can climb out of the water, at the lip near the boathouse where Harley Filben is. Make sure the patrolling NSF is walking away before climbing up. Also, when talking to Filben and the girl, make sure you stand away from the boathouse window to avoid being seen by the NSF. Then sneak back along the dock, staying behind the NSF until you reach the dock exit.

  • The 2 NSF guys talking about "the cult of the machine" etc at 7:35 can be easily bypassed if you want. There's so much shadow in that entire area that you can walk past and they won't see you. You need to be fairly close to trigger their conversation, but for safety's sake you can then pass them by at a distance. Same goes for the other 2 standing near the light on the easternmost side of this map (a bit further east from those first 2 NSF guys).

  • Its amazing to think that one of the best games ever made has some of the worst AI in the history of games.

  • @TigerRifle1 Yep, Deus Ex is a great example of a story that far outweighs the game's flaws.

  • @shido534 hopefully Deus Ex 3 will improve upon that. As bad as it was it served as a good inducement to play a stealth game instead of just takin out the GEP gun and blasting everything.

  • Wow, after veiwing a few excerpts of this seemingly primitave game, I'm immediately hooked....

Yeah, I know, I never played this as a child... I feel so deprived......

Especially when thinking games like MW2 or Halo 3 are the pinnacle of gaming performance....

    I need a copy of this ;_;

  • @bobreeda Oh man, if you can get yourself a copy of this game.. you'll never look back! It truly is a masterpiece for the gaming industry.

    I wish I didn't lose my copy..

  • did you use rapid fire weapons in this walkthrough? i prefer assault rifles and smgs over pistols and shotguns. also which is better deus ex for the ps2 or deus ex for the pc? p.s. i just found this video, and i think you did a great job.

  • @megaben99 Why would I use assault rifles and submachine guns in a nonlethal walkthrough? PC version is better imo because some bad changes were made to the PS2 version.

  • @shido534 i can't believe that i actually ask that question. p.s. what was wrong with the ps2 version? also when i saw this i though you were going to kill the ones that you had no choice to but to kill. i guess i messed up there, but anyways you did a great job. also the reason i kill some of the enemies is that i want to get my weapon skills up first but every time i level up i put exp into the others stats as well.

  • @megaben99 The PS2 version has an inferior inventory system and a dumbed down health system, among other things. You can probably Google the differences. I do kill two people throughout the walkthrough, but neither die from firearms.

  • cool videos though :)
