have you thought to check to see if it even has the right compression. I mean there's a pile of oil in the bed the more yall drive. Looks like to me your running low on oil and having blow by past the piston rings. Just my theory...attending Wyotech and was a diesel mech in the Marines for 5 years. Don't drive it till it's fixed, you will only cause more harm!!!
just throughing this out there haha sounds like its sick to me so probley not best to drive it i mean thats what i do if it dont sound right dont drive it fix it before u make shit worse
run a buzz test and a cylinder contribution test on the injectors. test the GPs with a resistance test and test the voltage across the GPR. if it sounds like its only running on half the cylinders look into it being a under valve cover harness problem. take the oil cap off and see if you smell burnt wires. or better yet, give me the truck before you screw it up more by spraying ether into a diesel, especially before disabling glowplugs
I Still Know Very Little About Diesel To Me It Sounds Kind Of Slug From What I Know Maby The Glow Plugs Try Puting A Tolet Plunger Handle But Your Ear & Check Each Cyl To Here What Cyl It Is Then Check Them If Not That.

Wow! Your comment about the cylinders not being "lit" yet blew me away. You obviously have cold start issues, but the running rough is a whole other ball game, that starting it with starting fluid has helped amplify. It sounds as if you are having a catastrophic failure out of a few injectors, and high pressure oil problems. pull the valve covers and change injectors and while your in there you might as well change glow plugs. and from the way this engine sounds, do a compression test as well.
You i believe u have a high pressure pump failure,or a weak or downed injector or several.Or in dyer need of an oil change.If that oil has alot of miles on it,or if that truck idles for long periods of time it recks havoc on the quality of the oil.Them injectors work off high pressure engine oil.
@K1ll3rM4st3r What are you a chevy chick lol every truck has its own problems and they are all completely unexpected !! Doesn't mean that any truck is better than the other even though ford is the shit and is deff worth fixing if it ever has problems which every truck has !!
@K1ll3rM4st3r Sounds to me like you arent a good technician if you have had nothing but problems with them or it could just be the owner treating it like shit because he doesnt like it if you treat a vehicle right they will go forever and i know from experience have them serviced when they need to be serviced !!

Embarrassing !!!! You guys give Fords a bad rap. They may have their issues but incompetence isn't one of them.

Another stroker that won't fire. Not starting an argument.... But that says something to me. I don't like Ford.

@spazbite91 1. I am not a chick
2. I don't like Chevy's either.
3. I'm entitled to my own opinions, and as a engine technician I've had nothing but problems with fords.

@K1ll3rM4st3r Wtf does Ford have to do with Internationals bullshit 7.3?
Blackmamba1997 1 month ago
Hate to say it, but maybe the ether cracked something internal like a valve. My thinking is they all should if fired up during the higher revs.

@stoner6790 true. I'd just go by sound tho. I do that with my truck. I can tell what speed i'm at just by feeling the shifts and the engine sound.
