The focus of your beam is very wide? Also, the upper surface of your Lense has no protection, doesnt it get dirty? What brand of tube are you using? Universal maybe?
@EnglishTurbines The focus is 0,5 mm - 0,8 mm. I believe that is good enough for laser cutting. It is true that the focus lense dosn't have protection for dust. The cnc table have very good fume export so the lense dosn't get dirty enough. I use a DC laser tube from China. Universal is better but more expensive.
@labros77 0.5mm is very large for a Focus,,,0.8mm is HUGE. We obtain 0.1mm, which gives more cutting power from 30 watts than you will get from a Chinese "100watt". Thats because the Universal enjoys a much better beam Mode. This in turn enables a smaller focus diameter. The DC tube from china is also a bit more dangerous because of the high DC voltages used?
here is an idea..why not just swap out the ink head for a Laser in any old USB printer? would save time on construction..might have to foodle with it to get passed its "no ink" or "paper jam" warnings.
if you feel like it can you email me some basic flaws you came across? i am going to make a duy one from concentrated blue rays hooked to an printer cage
The step motors are from japan "sanyo denki" and the drivers are "Gecko". I believe that the smooth operation is the good synchronisation controller and motors and of course the mechanical construction
I want to make a cutting laser. I ran one for two years cutting steal.... I know how they work and I know G Code to program. I need all the hot spots to find the equipment and stuff i need to build one. can you help?
what kind of material do you use for the surface of the cutting area?
