Plus Jeff Scott Soto did the vocals for the actor that was the singer for Steel Dragon BEFORE Mark's character got the position. I'd know Miljenko Matijevic's vocals anywhere. I think you interpreted the commentary wrong at some point, because Miljenko did Mark's vocals. It says so in the movie credits, on wikipedia, and everywhere else.

Both versions of this song are good. This one is good if you want a more mellow, feeling of reminiscence tune (at least that's what this version does for me). The Rock Star movie version is good if you want faster, more guitar squealing, and more feeling of excitement.

This is the original track from the Steelheart album "Wait". It was just re-recorded for the movie. Has a little more tempo in the movie but same song with same vocals. Bought debut album when it hit US stores and been a fan ever since. Best band of the "Hair" era.
