  • No one who wasn't a child in the early 1950's can imagine the impact of this man on thousands of kids including myself. To me, Hopalong Cassidy was my hero. He stood for everything good and right and opposed lawlessness where ever he found it. Always quick to help anyone in need, he cut an heroic figure that was larger than life. I saw him once in person at the Ringling Bros. circus in Detroit. They announced him and he rode in on Topper with all the lights on him. I almost fainted. It was him!

  • @Brace67 One wonders at the difference in our generation with Hopalong, Roy, Lone Ranger as Heroes....vs later generations heroes. When did sports and pop star heroes take over??
