  • i havent played with deons mods before so i dont know if he changed it so it has to be mud to farm, but in vanilla it can be soil and loamy soil i think, i know loamy soil for sure.

  • Deon said on his Wasteland thread that it "should" be the first mod to be released for the new version. The climactic return of the Fallout Chronicles is finally here! ... Right? :)

  • Someone's probably already said this, but Char is a type of fish.

  • Don't worry about crippled dorfs, Plump. Toady fixed that with .18 or ... well, technically the current release, but it came out so long ago I consider Genesis the new version. :P

  • If you want to build a roof just build one ramp where on square of the wall should be to get up build it then remove the ramp and build the wall. Shouldn't that in theory close the hole without losing a dwarf? If so use it. If not thumps down to save me the embarrassment.

  • Story of this fortress II (sang) Two hundred nor Of polished siltstone speak through the souls Of noble dead dwarves Engravings in stone soon will reveal the most cruel tone of Armok's grand will GHOSTS OF THE PERISHED DWARVES, MATERIAL ENOUGH TO MURDER YOUR WHOLE CLAN!
  • Whoa I didn't realise Deon named a plant after Plump!

  • ...What plant are you talking about? Becouse if you're talking about Plump Helmets then they've been around in original Dwarf Fortress for like 6-8 years.

  • @MWaser Apparently it is the other way around, I never played Dwarf Fortress myself, i guess I just didn't notice the name in Plump's or Jef's videos.

  • @MWaser Yeah this is a problem that I never thought I'd have to worry about but should have had the foresight to see.

  • @AdamusOne He didn't, I named my self after a plant from DF that Toady designed. I never thought I'd have viewers who didn't know that though which is turning into a problem.

  • @PlumpHelmetPunk I don't see how not knowing the genesis of Your name is a problem. But thanks for the explanation!

  • Regarding Nest Boxes: All you needed to do was make sure they were put within the pen/pasture. Also just remember that if you want the eggs to hatch to forbid those eggs from your food stockpiles, they need to stay in the boxes to hatch.

Also you can leave the population cap on something like 0 and still received children. I am quite a fan of small, elite fortresses myself and play this way often. I think you were just unlucky or your wife wasn't in the mood for children so soon after her injury

  • Eee! Whenever you say "Werewuff", in my head I see little two-legged puppy children terrorizing their cuddly toys, while Mama and Papa Werewolf watch on with pride. :D

  • @MoogieSRO The Werewuff Cuddler tightens it's hug on Moogie's neck.

  • 14:35 Plump, you're so classy for wording what he did to that Guinea Hen in that way.

25:40 Poltergeists! I think ghosts come in different flavors depending on how they died too. Some will only scare people but others turn into murder-machines.

Poor Plump, you even called your own wedding reception "just another party". I guess its all just work for you!

  • @MasterAsra Woops I missed the "wedding reception" message and did think it was just another party. Dang it I missed the garter toss!

  • @PlumpHelmetPunk Don't worry Plump, I'm sure you had a lot on your mind. Like killer dwarf poltergeists and population control.

  • Poor Csero...

  • When the kid was born, and it says he like Char, I think it means the fish instead of burnt wood (:P). I've seen references of Char through books I've read, and upon further research it is, indeed, some sort of tasty water-dwelling thing.

  • why don't you use the d>b>h command to hide all the ugly stone laying about your fort, or some of the waste outside the fort to clear things up a bit.

The stone still gets used and is still essentially there just hidden from the players view until you re-enter the hide menu.

  • @Mapople1 Because hiding it doesn't move it, which is what I want to do. Should I ever come back in adventure mode the stones will still be there.

  • @PlumpHelmetPunk

Well you could always just unhide the stone before you go, but it's up to you. I just thought it'd make sense since you were complaining about some of the wood clutter and all the shit outside in an earlier episode. Everyone plays differently and who am I to judge.

  • R.I.P Kefka, the one successful villain.

  • I love how DF contains basically everything that I wished Dungeon Keeper could offer. <3 Dorf Fortress

  • ohhh what a CLIFFHANGER... ce wat i did ther?

  • start a war with the elves the tree huggers who sand in the way of progress

  • @spaceman4720 There arent any elves, they are Kobolds.

  • dead dwarfs dont claim coffins by themself. you have to "allow for burial" on the coffins for that, also you can "assign" the placed coffins like offices to dwarfs to make them tombs rooms for the assigned dwarf to use once he died.

for the pen/pasture, i think animals dont go to one themself but have to be assigned to one manually and then dragged there by a dwarf. not sure if you can assign the same animal to multiple pens too. probably not as it might get draged back and forth between them.

  • "SHE HAS VERY POOR EMPATHY" written in RED!

  • @Harakashi From now on I will read the ENTIRE dwarf description instead of trying to skim it. You guys win, I won't miss it again.

  • Been watching your videos the past few months watch all of your Fallout videos and most of your other random games hah. But pertaining to this video: a screw press is for making wine or for making alternative algae fuel xD and I love the idea of letting the legend migrants join the elite 7 only the one who prove themselves. I find that a good idea. Been a quick 4 hours spent Thanks plump

  • The char is a type of arctic fish, I have had it before; It's kind of like a salmon.

  • I started shouting at my computer at the part where you check Mcvalencia for empathy, and then SKIP RIGHT OVER the part where it says she has poor empathy. Argh plump!

  • What is the music that starts playing around 12:20?

  • So once their husband or wife dies. They won't remarry?

  • @plou333 From my experience they won't.

  • I've yet to watch the video, but I'm rooting for the migrants outside. I'm hoping they become barbarian dwarves in wooden huts that live off of the bodies of werewolves they slaughter with their single axe.

  • Csero is obviously psychic.

  • Yeah, the ghosts can be dicks. I've ran into one before who punched the leg off of one of my other dwarfs.

  • The mental image of that dwarf being choked for so long is absolutely hilarious. Probably one of the funniest things I've ever seen in DF.

  • Not sure if you found out later but I think the nest boxes would need to be within the pasture range of the ducks. I finally managed to get thread production going myself by planting pig tales and using a farmers workshop to process the plants. (careful with the loom though as by default it will auto loom all thread into cloth, the option to change it is in Orders, Workshops).

  • @TheHelix26 I never did figure out nesting boxes in this fortress. My ducks died off before they ever claimed them. Next time I'll try out putting them in the same pen / pasture.

  • @PlumpHelmetPunk Did you know this is your third longest video?

  • @ureyesrbleeding1 I do now.

  • @PlumpHelmetPunk Your first is embarrassingly Princess Maker 2.

  • @PlumpHelmetPunk Also make sure to remove eggs from your food stockpiles or they won't hatch.

  • I like how you have only a few dwarves in a sealed off fort. It makes it seem more like some utopian communist society where everyone is equal and does the same work.

  • Oh wow, another one so quickly?

Well, I'll save these videos for when I need to let my laptop sit and render and when I get any break from my busy schedule. I reserve my right to comment at a later date.

  • @GhostWulve Yeah this fortress was finished before I started uploading it so the videos are all going to be uploaded one after the other. No down days.

  • Also im curious, how did you make the list of names, is it just like the anouncements in space station or are they actual people?

  • @MrNoZedd The dwarves living inside the fortress are named after actual people, the first six donators actually. It's not much but I wanted to do something special for them.

  • Screw press is for the honey industry in pressing the combs. There's so many outstanding 'bugs' involving honey that I just skip beekeeping. Oh, no pun intended! ^^

  • @LiqnLag Do any of the bugs lead to "fun"?

  • @PlumpHelmetPunk

If more than one beekeeper is activated, they sometimes will both go out to collect the same hive. Needless to say, the dwarf that's late to transplanting said hive will go into limbo... one fix is to only have one bee keeper, the other is to take said zombie dwarf and place them in the military.... once you know, it's an annoyance only.

Jugs of honey, for mead making, cannot be stockpiled else the game cannot see them. Exclude from stockpile, dump, reclaim!

  • If there was any justice in this world, Kavish the Steel Dwarf of Legend would carry the name Revocaine. Damn you plump for naming him a mortal dwarf.

  • Advice is welcome but don't be surprised if I fuck snap and delete your comment because you're the 33rd person to tell me about farming or something similar.

  • Just a tip on weapon traps and to beat into your head that farming is like 40d...

no irrigation needed on soil. <------------------------------------ read!

On the trap aspect, the more weapons you add, the more likely it is to jam. Never played with rock weapons so not sure what is lethal but 3-4 is probably enough.

    Good stuff!

  • @LiqnLag #30

  • Char is slightly burnt food, like my mother burns her toast because she likes the taste of it

  • @MrNoZedd Turns out it's also fish, who knew?

  • Lolled @ Csero attending a meeting : "these motherf*cking ghosts chopped off my hand!"

    Just gotta love DF.

  • Man, I missed these videos. I got into LPing as a whole when I stumbled across your DF videos, Plump. Hell, it's the whole reason I have a YouTube account. Good stuff!

  • plump you don't need mud you can use soil for farming aka sand and the outside land

  • @cjjjjames #29

  • Oh yes, and like every video you make...

  • DAM YES MORE PLUMP! I give up my regular 8 hours sleep to you, its the least i can do.

  • @MrNoZedd You will regret that decision.

  • @PlumpHelmetPunk I think not, im still up and my eyes hurt, but... ok bed time it is.
