I agree that most of what is going on in the middle east is about securing the United States position in the region in order to control oil. To the my knowledge there is little or no oil coming from Pakistan and Afghanistan.
I believe the Paki-Afghan war is an effort on the United States part to pressure Iran, Russia, and China. To what end is really unclear to me at this point. But I really don't like that we're there. I can't see that we're doing anything positive. That's for sure.
