@Dominoes282 agreed this is the wrong way to do it,so many of these youtube videos give out the wrong advice or work arounds as if they are the actual way of doing something
I agree that it may work, however with the pitch you aren't guaranteed to be able to span your entire range (I'm not entirely sure whether the vanguard pitch can span 4 octaves). Similarly, automation clips in FL do not have easily discernible values, meaning that arriving at your desired note will take tons of fine tuning (have you ever tried to automate tempo? oh god!)
Unless you are using some sort of different way to edit events then although accurate, you have very little way to map pitch changes onto the 0-100% scale imposed by the automation clips or edit events. Send me a PM if you still disagree and we can try figuring out what I'm missing :)
@dfarce actually, since the pitch value goes by 12 in FL, if you increase your pitch range to 48 in the channel window and go up to 100 in your automation clip from either 25, 50, or 75, then you're guaranteed to start and land on the correct pitch. trust me, automation is way better than actually putting in each note. VSTs don't restrict their range, so Vanguard will cover every note on the piano roll in FL. Similarly, you can edit the rate with the midpoint to add more intensity to your builds
well if you don't have glide option you could try to play with the ADSR envelopes to make the notes "glide" into each other... it's not the same effect but you can achieve pretty good results
... what i mean is lower the attack to make the notes "bleed" in and raise the sustain so they "bleed out" ...
@energeticDj nexus has under the mfx section a place where you can adjust the sound to be poly, none, legato, and so forth, and also lets you adjust the time it takes to switch between notes..
u can make a slide in nexus by using legato 1/16 for the settings, and drawing 1 bar of note at every 1 beat interval
for ex - -
-
to the note u want it to go... does the same thing
Some, but not all synths have some sort of internal glide function. By utilizing it with a little tweaking, you should be able to get the desired effect. I'm not an expert on many (if any!) VSTs though, so take it on faith XD
Hmm, I'm not so sure then. The only thing I can guess is that you are using an external VSTi like Vanguard or VSTation. The slide function only works with native FL plugins. Anyways, let me know if you figure it out
It may be that you forgot the root note. To start a slide, you need to have a root note and a target note. The root note is where the slide starts, and the target note is the one which you actually put the slide trigger on. hope that helps somewhat.
Oh, and btw....DO NOT (unless you have an absolutely amazing sound card) place one short note at the very bottom of the piano roll, and another at the very top and set a slide to it. It will cause your cpu usage to go through the roof, and fl studio will stop responding....yes, i kno it was dumb, but it sounded cool before it crashed....lol
Very good tutorial. Dont be so hard on yourself. Your helpin out a lot of people, for free. I think you can permit yourself a few oohs and aahs lol. Keep it up.
Thanks, I will do. Having problems trying to fix my sound issue due to my crappy integrated sound. O well, I have something special planned when I do.
