I,m guessing that few of you saw him in his prime. He was great, but unfortunately there is little remaining on video &c to show this.If you take anything from what he shows here, let it
be that body dysmorphia is an as yet undeveloped art & that
documentation counts toward longevity, cheers! from fordcortina
I,m guessing, but I don't know that few of you will have seen
Leigh in his prime He was great , but unfortunately there is not much recorded material of what it was that made him great. If you take anything from what he shows here, let it be that body dysmorphia is an as yet undeveloped art, not because leigh was,nt there before you, but becuase he recorded so little
After San Francisco, Divine and that gang in the late 1960s, this stuff looks like at ATTEMPT at being bad, but is just downright pretentious and stupid.
well, I think it looks like a disco the whole time and the vinettes get drowned out by the lights and the music that never changes its beat. also the volume never changes so everyone is shouting there parts singing or talking, and although most of the vignettes take place in a bar there could have been more cleaver ways to vary time, volume, and place within the song. I do like the european style, though, I suppose thats why it was a hit.
@hairyreddick This scene is set in a disco so no wonder they're all shouting. I think this piece is brilliant and no wonder it was a hit in London. In America they added too many characters and modified too much thus the beauty was lost. That's a pity.
yes the 80s were bitchy that why most bands split after few years, the 80s everybody was trying to out do everybody eles, but u will find the whole industry is two faced any way :)
@TheLynnChannel This was a counterculture movement and as such they were exclusive yet inclusive. Meaning that there was a hierarchy of sorts for those who were the most outrageous. You had to have a tough skin to enter the inner sanctum, but you also had to prove yourself in order to stay and become part of the conversation and it's relevance. "Bitch" was the primary objective.
that lad is hot (who boy george kisses lol)

I may see why it was a flop in America, It looks like a talent show from an expensive private high school.

I've watched most of the play. I love it, but I have a question that's been bothering me for a while now.....
Do you guys think everyone was really this bitchy and nasty when some of this actually happend in the 80's? ;)
TheLynnChannel 3 years ago 2
I'd probably say more so, oddly enough. the Taboo crowd were insane.
justnicknet 3 years ago
That's what I was thinking.

I loved Leigh Bowery and many of the Blitz kids but I can see why this didn't do well on Broadway.
