Damon Albarn WROTE a lot of Elastica songs and gave them to Justine after Blur rejected them. The best of the songs ripped off Wire and The Stranglers so it wasn't much of a gift!
It's strange because she always said she didn't want to talk about Damon but then always did. She used to introduce the subject of Damon into the conversation, then say how she didnt want to talk about him. This happened in many magazine interviews and TV interviews too. "I've come here to talk about my music not about Damon" [the interviewer hadn't even mentioned Damon]. Then Justine would go on and on about Damon.

I dont understand why Justine runs Damon down, I can understand her being angry that he wrote about their relationship in the Blur album '13' when she wanted that to remain private,but thats it. I'm pretty sure Damon had a lot to do with Elastica becoming famous, he used his contacts to get them launched. He also played on some Elastica songs. We may not have heard of Justine had it not been for Damon. By the way I met Justine once.

@DoYouSmokePaul Blur +Elastica had the same PR man, it was always rumoured Damon wrote the first Elastica album but I doubt thats true. He certainly plays on some tracks,credited as 'Dan Abnormal' (anogram of his name). Damon also helped jam out the Elastica sound in early rehersals, playing bass. I remember he said after they split "I did so much for her!" (implying he really helped her career). I was personally a big fan of Justine +Elastica, I saw them live twice and I met Justine +Donna too.
