I saw them once. I didn't like them but they were in town. I was dragged along. They were a great turn and put on a cracking show. They were dancing in the aisles. Always had a soft spot for them since. Just goes to show. Listen without prejudice, a good tune is a good tune. Always was and always will be.
ahhh takes me back to my childhood time , i loved the Dooleys , i was lucky enough to get a copy of their greastes hits talk about blast from the past wow
@ukrory this reminds me of my bro phil he was a dj and he was the highway star disco. must have been late 70s. wow i am old now. looking forward to being a granny christmas 2011
I believe that this song - which was The Dooleys' first hit - reached # 14 in the charts in August 1977.
When watching the footage, I noticed that the male members of the group were wearing flared trousers - even though the 'glam rock' era had ended about 2 years previously. If my ageing memory serves me correctly, it wasn't until 1979 or '80 that it became seriously uncool to wear flares.
Saw them performing in Blackpool in a show with comedian Stan Boardman in the mid '80s.I was on a weekend away with my then girlfriend. We both enjoyed the show.
nostalgia 7080,you feel the same as me great songs good times, god if music had more soul like this we would all be a little more chilled, good comment bro.v
mr steve get out more bro, don't take life so seriously, this kind of music came at the best days of my life, try to remember your best times, the music that touched your soul, god bless bro.v
the seventies were made of songs like this, anna keep um comin baby, hot days, tight yellow tshirts, with smiley faces on um,17 inch flairs good times great laughs thanks anna you cheered me up baby.v
Absolutely fantastic. The Dooleys are a brilliant British band of which we can be proud of. For me, one of their greatest tracks. What great memories ....
I hated this song when I first heard it .... ;-) as the weeks went by, I started to like it, so I started turning the radio or tv off whenever it came on. C'mon, I was 15-6, teenagers weren't supposed to like it. Then they released "Love Of My Life" and I have loved them ever sice. Jim D himself dubbed me their "No1 Fan" in S Africa in Jan 06 when they got together for a reunion :-)
I also hated this song when I first heard it and the second time, I despised it. This is the third and last time. How I wish my thesis was finished. The title? "The Diabolically Awful Nature of 70's Family Pop Groups".
I first heard this great disco song when I bought 'Disco Fever' on tape in 1978. 30 FLIPPIN YEARS AGO!!! Where did the time go? I'm enjoying listening to their songs again on You Tube. Thanks to whoever posted them.
this is the best thing I have heard in the last few years............reminds me of getting on the school bus in late 70s!!........fantastic

Weren't they Irish?

Apparently not. The core of the group, made up members of the Dooley family, started in Ilford, Essex, in the 1960s.
