some of the best looking and performing damascus i found on ebay is custom.knife there stuff is really nice and is i think actually 1095/15n20 and heat treated well. i know there 01 is legit and the dam i had was really good. it took an edge well and held it and didn't chip. i don't know if its from pakistan but i think. doesn't really matter if the steel is good and treated well, and it is.
Good review! I will try to upload video of Pakistani Damascus steel knives i have. If anyone looking for Pakistani Damascus steel knife, I may be able to provide manufacturer’s contact in Wazirabad, Pakistan. Damascus steel knives made in Pakistan are for export only as not many people here would buy these as they are expensive in comparison to other locally made excellent knives.

hello Dagon ! I'm searching around for this cheap damascus knives since long time but I can't decide myself where to buy. Can you suggest me some good maker ? Where do you get this four ? Merçi ;)
@fraudioc Surf to boker.de and browse their site for Magnum - there are many affordable Magnum knives, some of which feature damascus blades. I don't have any of them yet they are probably good for the money. Keep in mind that affordable damascus blades are almost never stainless, meaning that the etching will become more difficult to see if you use it often, for example cutting citrus fruits will darken the blade.
@MrDagon007 thanks for the advice. I'm more interested on the Pakistan and Indian production, do you have any suggestion ? Where did you find yours ? thanks ;)
@fraudioc I bought 2 of them on a knife show - straight from the manufacturer representative, the others on ebay. I am sorry but I don't know any brands.
@SNAFU111999 some carbon steel damsascus blades are very hard and can hold an edge long. I am not sure how they compare to modern high end steels however.
Great review! Do you have any thoughts on the "Fox-N-Hound" brand knives? I've been looking at the damascus bolo bowie knife lately but wasn't sure about the steel. The price is great and it feels very good in the hand. they are made in Pakistan as well.
I don't know Fox 'n' Hound. Now, just like wine, if you like it, that's good enough!
A warning: be aware with cheap damascus that it will not be stainless which is acceptable if you will not cut food and especially not cut citrus fruits with it as then the blade would stain very visibly which is a pity with damascus!
Hi MrDagon007 - Very nice review. I purchased two of the Pakastan made damascus from Richmond Cutlery UK - and they were as you say, a very nice deal for the money. I think the steel is good, and it is nice to have damascus on the bolsters too. Thanks for the great reviews.
Interesting. Contrary to what I was thinking when I read the video title; those look like decent blades. How would you say the edge retention compares to "modern makers"? Would you bother taking it along with on a camping trip?
By the way some people might call that ruff finish "jimping" and be happy. :)
I used them for some cardboard cutting - didn't dare to use them on anything food-related as I expect that the carbon-steel will get tainted.
My non-scientific impression is that the edge retention is pretty similar to classic carbon steel knives which are hardened to, say, HRC 55-57. Think Opinel for example.

I like your attitude! I do like the knife so I intend to purchase it. It looks like a great chopping knife for the woods.
Thanks for the reply!
