I've seen a similar version of this food in Filipino stores (in the U.S.), except that it's just sweet sticky rice and no meat. So my guess is that my maybe this food made it's way to several parts of Asia.
Yea they're popular in the Philippine Chinese communities. There are many versions of it. Some put egg and raisins in it. ANd I don't think it is sweet but it is sticky tho.
