  • Thanks from the UK.

    Will

  • Awesome job. I'm sure you heard this man, but you look like COLE HAMELS! Which I'm cool with, I'm a huge Phillies fan. Awesome getting lessons from Cole Hamels! Again, great job and thanks. Excellent guitar work!

  • Thank you so much, you are an excellent teacher because you take time to explain and you take time let us understand. I finally got it. You don't have Julia teaching anymore ... please put it back. Many thanks again!!!

    Jean-Robert

  • Good lesson, I never leave comments but learned this one in one sitting- that means you done good!

  • excelente tanks!!

  • Thanks very much. Best lesson for this song I've seen.

  • I didn't watch it from the start......but I bet in real life ur a cocky fucker....

  • u. r. the. best. thank you. that is all

  • THank you good sir! got a child on the way and if its a girl,, well u can see where this is going :P again thank you

  • I think your fingering of the main riff is sub-optimal and unessesary complex. If you use pinky for 2nd string in the first shape (regular D) and then ringfinger for the C-bass note, and then index finger for B-bass, you'll end up with a much smoother sequence.

  • Kinda reminds me of johnny marr

  • tooooooooconfusingbrooooooo

  • very helpful thanks so much

  • @RoflKnightProduction ha yea figured that out pretty fast, -.-" but maybe u can answer one more question for the F chord is he holding down the 4th string or not ? i cant tell

  • Thank you!!

  • Thank You! Please record more songs in this style? Love all of the Beatles that you've put up. Do you play any old Joni Mitchell songs by chance?

  • thank you so much - it's perfect!

  • great video man but does any body know wat to play for the "outro" ?

  • @NewWave9651 Same as the intro

  • Thank you for your help! Great explanation of the finger picking pattern. Once you get that down the rest is pretty easy. How did John Lennon even come up with this?

  • @jstdun Donovan taught him how to do it when they were in Marakesh together. He also used it on Happiness is a warm gun and Julia.

  • You are a very good guitar teacher. I give you an A+.

  • i just made my own video to this song! please check it out :)

  • Hey just stopped by to say thanks for posting this and for making it so easy to follow, other videos on this song made it unclear how to do the picking. Thanks and keep up the good work.

  • Great job, perfect for beginning guitar players, thanks so much for the time.

  • Very nice. Thanks.

  • Great lesson! I think you need a pair of glasses for that right eye if you dont have some already.

  • looks like like anthony from chili peppers. great lesson!

  • Best lesson on the Beatles ever.

  • oh man,nice!!!! thanks a lot man

  • great, great, great, great

    grazie mille

  • Thank you!

You are not only talented, but a good teacher as well. I've been trying to stumble through this for decades and you show me how it's done in a few minutes!

    Please do more vids!

  • nice man..... but i have to say ..love your jacket!!!!!!!!! where can i get one

  • Thanks Peter for taking the time to post this...it a very cool lesson:)

  • i suck at guitar but thx to u i can play some of this beautiful song.

  • Finally found a video of someone doing a complete explanation, and not just shouting out chords. Which fingers, on which string, on which fret. Perfect lesson in my humble opinion. Thanks for taking the time. By the way what moron brought up the name L'il Wayne on a video about the Beatles?

  • ...Amidst all the bickering, I just wanted to say that I found this video really helpful. So thanks a bunch!

  • Im on my bed, getting spanked by your mother and having sex with her, whilst she blows another guy and believe you me, she is a Fuckin' Whiner!

  • @apathyphd420 yeah i did 'pinch a loaf' if 'pinch a loaf' means put my penis really far down your mothers mouth!

  • @apathyphd420

    Thanks :)

I thought my resposne was perty phunny too :)

  • Excellent

  • Great lesson and teaching approach. Thanks for taking the time putting that together, surely many of us will now spend countless hours applying your lesson so that we may master a beautiful song. I can't wait to nail it.

@33fgfhjjggy6y should have been culled from population at birth. Sorry was that my inside voice speaking out loud!

  • i think you forgot the part "wont you come out to play" ... anyway it was really helpful, thanks man!

  • Thanks for this. My daughter must learn this for her School of Rock show. This is very helpful!

  • why does it have to be complicated by drop tuning ?? To what end does it serve? seeya...

  • @guitgeo The Drop D tuning is to make the base note in key. You would have to alter the picking pattern and not play that string at all if you didn't drop the key. Of course, if you did that it wouldn't be "Dear Prudence"....

  • @guitgeo

This ? has probably been answered, but the low D allows for a continual drone low D to alternate with the higher D on 4th string.....w/o it the song would not sound the same.

As far as complicating things, lowering just the one string is an easy quick twist that is easy to do by matching it to the 4th string open.....unlike going in and out of Michael Hedges or Don Ross wacky tunings which takes a long time, is a pain in the ass, and is still often out of tune!

  • this fag is so fake! wtf has happened to music!?

  • @33fgfhjjggy6y Are you JOKING? What the crap is wrong with you?! Do you realize how stupid you sound?

  • @XylemsAsylum FAAAAGGGG!!!

  • @33fgfhjjggy6y Hahahaha wow... MAAAATURRRREEEE!!!

  • @33fgfhjjggy6y

yeah, he's a real fake! He is obviously NOt playing the tune, and from how he describes it , it is obvious he knows nothing of how to play guitar.

33fg...isn't your momma calling you in for dinner now?

  • @gtrrobster No cos YO MAMMA already ate it, cos shes fat and a bitch who eats other peoples dinner, bitch

  • @33fgfhjjggy6y

Clever response! I stand corrected. YOu win.

  • Thanks mate.I've been trying to find a tutorial on this song and it's been helpful.

  • Thank you darling...I needed this!

  • Good job man! You are a very good teacher. BTW what kind of guitar is that? Very nice! Thanks.

  • You made this seem so easy and to think I was intimidated by this song...

  • Whoa, thanks a million for this superb lesson.

Crystal clear. You're a great teacher; breaking everything down, especially the picking pattern. And to those of you who love this Travis picking style, please check out Donovan! After all, it was he who taught John Lennon...

  • okay, that makes sense...... now the endless days of practice. Appreciate the clarity of the lesson though, really helps. Such a beautiful song too.

  • thanks man.

  • instead of barring the top 2 strings all with your first, you could hold down the 2nd string with your first finger and the first with your second.

  • Great tutorial!!! Clear and precise!!! Thank you very much!!!

  • Travis picking is addictive, and so is this song. I almost go into a trance playing it. Thanks for the clear, informative tutorial.

  • Dude, I'm a singer struggling to become a guitar player, too, so I really, really, REALLY appreciate lessons like this by fantastic guitar players like you.

    THANKS VERY VERY MUCH!!!!!!!!!!

  • You look like a combination of Paul's guitarist- Rusty Anderson and German national team's coach- Joachim Loew.

  • Great Lesson, You really explained and showed very well how to play the song. Very Nice. Thanks Sjb66

  • Thanks for the lesson, it was real splendid

  • I had never played a guitar before. I decided to play Dear Prudence first. You taught me to play this. Although I don't have the fastest tempo yet, I can actually play it now. Thanks for the great, well thought out lesson. I'll look for more lessons from you in the future. Blackbird is still a bit out of my league yet.

  • It's wonderful when someone like him takes the trouble to explain both the picking pattern and the proper way to play this song correctly. Very well done.

  • man this guitar part is so beautiful

  • awesome dude! thanks a lot!

  • Hey man, beautifully explained lesson. There's a Paul Simon song called "Still Crazy After All These Years" Which doesn't even have 1 tutorial on youtube. I think this timeless tune MUST be taught, and since it's seems like a super complicated song, I believe you should be the 1 to teach it. Hoping you might answer this request

    thanx

  • By far the best tutorial I have seen. Great Job.

  • you're a good person for posting Beatles tutorials at your own free will. thanks for the lesson

  • great lesson, thanks man!

  • This is 100% awesome right here.

  • Thanks Keith Richards!

  • What is the shape of the chord at 8:05?

  • great stuff! thanks. a mystery solved! r'man

  • i cant get the third chord when he says to remove your third finger

  • why

  • idk just is u dont see many guitarists as famous as say lil wayne or like any other pop stars. suck a dick

  • what are you talking about.....

  • @SupermanNukkah3, you are probably about four years old, so here's a little fact for you: many guitarists, including the beatles, were the best of the best in America. Everyone loved them. Lil Wayne is hated by a lot of people. You may not know this because you may have a terrible taste in music.

  • @SupermanNukkah3 i dont find your argument very concret... you know sometimes people like you are the reason why this world is going down..if you like our music god bless you,if you dont god bless you too but ...you must suck a dick

  • If you don't like them thats your problem. but if you are watching this video just to bash it than whats the point in wasting everyones time. don't spend your life insulting someone who has given up there personal time to teach this song. if you don't like it...don't watch the video. go watch one of your "pop star" videos and see what you can do with those. and btw...there are a lot of guitarists more famous than lil wayne. Yesterday by the beatles was the most recorded song in the world.

  • This is very good, thanks for the up.

  • @caycay22222 lol lil wayne can't really play guitar. like, yes maybe he can "play" but not really haha

  • @SupermanNukkah3 idiot.

  • stupidass

  • @SupermanNukkah3

indeed lil wayyne is SOOO famous. he was even on the cover of rolling stone. he is waaaay more famous that those beetles will ever be....cuz they really suck. good luck...you need it!

  • thank you.you should get paid.

  • thanks man you are a great teacher.

  • this is awesome it helped alot!!!!

  • I never realized how complex this song was, you did it perfect :)

  • I got blisters on me fingers! Great video, thank you and very nice playing.

  • This guy is awesome!!!

  • Thanks. Great lesson and am now playing this classic.

    Keep up the good work!

  • Thanks man! very helpfull.

    Greeting from Argentina.

  • Very good. I have the chords down its the damn finger picking that gets me every time.

  • @fender994

    rude, much?

it's called a lazy eye and he can't help it.

  • With comments like that it's amazing he bothers going to the trouble of posting these fantastic music tutorial.

  • @thepumpdontwork Dont listen,There only jealous dude.Keep up the good work

  • This is by far the best lesson on how to play "Dear Prudence". I have checked many other videos, websites and even the sheet music, but every one of them is wrong. This is as good as it gets. You play it so well. Good job man, and thank you. It helped a lot.

  • thanks for explaining so well. i need work again but i'm barely playing it. merci beaucoup.

  • u r awesome!! that song is like orgasmic for me, now i can play it :) thnks

  • hahaha wtf??? XD

  • dude, thanks for helping me learn this song! Awesome. Grateful.

  • aye, to everyone. the shape at 6:11 sounds great without barring the G string on the 2nd fret. i found that to be tough to hit consistently, so i leave it open. its clearly not right when you play it with the song, but alone it sound almost better even. give it a try.

  • Thannnnnnnnnnnk you a loooot !!!!

  • this was realy helpful thx

  • also a tip that i find helps as im learning now... is learn the picking pattern to an absolute science before moving on to the fingering. it makes everything much easier

  • Well done mate. Glad to see good players that explain things so clearly. Cheers

  • This video helped me very very much, thanks!!!

  • hes really good

  • i think his eyeballs go in diff directions. i knew a guy like that and he got laid all the time!

  • pretty cool,,,,nicely done...

  • great job man... but starting at 8 min and 4 sec you're a little off. check it out... play D minor 7... thenplay in on the 4th fret, then 3rd fret, and back to D.. cheers... :-)

  • Thank you a lot, took me a whole evening but it worked out!

  • Thanks alot man, just learnt the whole thing in a sitting. :)

  • pause at exactly :43

  • This cat is a good player and knows what he is talking about and explains things clearly...and his lesson and tone on "Eruption" is right on...and I am 37 and have been playing since I was 8 years old!

  • Nice one man - great lesson. Thanks-a-plenty!

  • I wonder why you never hear this beautiful song on the radio?

  • because they only play shit on the radio thats their policy

  • Very good lesson... and a great song. You are a good guitar teacher, taking time to show intricacies that others blow by. Thanks!

  • Your skills as a guitar teacher are very good. I like your teaching style and of course your knowledge of the song is superb also. Please keep going and give us more songs. Thank you.

  • I'm pretty sure that this is the same picking pattern as used in "Julia" by Lennon.

  • jeez!!!!!!! wow!!! great!

  • MAKE MORE TUTORIALS - YOU'RE THE BEST!
