You know, using the Grappling Beam (z-air) is meant for spacing yourself from your opponent. Homing Missiles act as a deterant. You'd best watch out for Hylian. While he does play as other characters besides Samus, he does play skillfully and effectively.

I played Samus in melee, out of love and because Falco/Fox/Sheik/Marth players are nubs. But Brawl was a let down as I might have to let Samus go. She got a speed nerf, and the missle delay atleast in air has been increased.

It may just take more getting used to, but the fluidness that once was samus just seems to be sluggish now. If anyone is looking for a character that moved like samus did in Melee, I find that Pit has the most similar feel.

[tobias]: Not having been used to the game, mostly. Like Hyli combos me at the very beginning and my first instinct is Smash DI, which doesn't get you out of sticky moves, but I could have just airdodged. It just didn't occur to me.

Our latest batch of vids (everything that's up right now is from the same session) should show some improvement in that area, like... being more Brawl-like and kinda shedding old Melee habits.

Yes it does. More knockback and slightly more stun. It's what makes grapple work as an edgeguard, since you can mid-hit grapple them and then tipper grapple them immediately afterwards.

[tobias]: Missile Canceling in Melee is shooting off a missile just before you hit the ground (but early enough that the missile actually comes out). It cancels the lag from having fired off a missile, and is vital to Samus players.

In Brawl, almost everything that Samus does in the air autocancels, missiles included.

it's the new style of fighting with samus, im gonna have to use that when brawl is released on the 9th :D this was a very good match and i didn't know that double missle was still gonna be in it! i was a little disappointed about the information that my cousin gave me that samus wasn't going to be able to double missle anymore, but now that i've seen the true pros (yay) im very excited about brawl!
