So many of the children and legends are no longer here physically but there spirit and wisdom live on in this movie! It is part of the wider culture now and they were trailblazers for everybody!
The M.C./Commentator was Harold Chanel (RIP) he was killed in a car wreck. Tenille Dupree is no longer here but Candy LaBeija is still around living life as a woman (and always have) she was last out at Paris Dupree's Ball back in 2003.
@dellculookin Thanks for the info. This is one of my favorite films and the "Where Are They Now'' update is greatly appreciated. Harold Chanel, you say...well, he was definitely FACE. I'd heard about Tenille already; a true loss to the ballroom scene. Candy's still kickin' it, huh? That's whassup. I like to see and hear good things about the older legends and icons from the film.
youbettawergbitch i think tenille look more real cuz octavia was acting like a gay man, tenille acted like a regular girl and her face is so on point wow how long ago did she past? its sad.:(
I love the look into the camera that Tennille does at 00:29 -- and then Candy Labeija's expressions at 1:05-08 as Octavia is scored all-around 10's. That look on Candy's face said so much in just a few glances.
I feel you but I saw Octavia more. But that was a very close one because they both gave different types of "realness" if that makes any sense. I miss Tenille. It's been many years. We have lost so many in this scene.
Normally I always favored Octavia, but in this category at that moment in the movie, I agree with you -- Tennille should have had grand prize: she has a grand vibe that is unique.
Do u know his name. Too fine. I think he did am interview with Luna not too long ago.I love when he said " come, come come." Yessssssssssssssssss baby I will!!!
The boy is FIIIIINE, honey! He made me feel so real! And the other thing I love about this scene is they are playing "The More I Get, The More I Want" by the tranny-loving Mr. Teddy Pendergrass!! That song is FIERCE!
