A nice, thoughtful performance. I see nothing wrong with the tempo, nor with the registration. Yes, it can go a touch faster, but it doesn't have to, and it's not necessary to play it on string stops just because everyone else does. It sounds just as good on the flutes.

Sorry - but I guess it's played a litle bit too slow. I think this piece have to be registered with strings, not with flutes. But for all that - very beautiful performance. Keep on playing Mendelsohn organ sonatas!

Thanks for the comments--if I ever play this piece again (or the organ at all), I would definitely like to try using strings instead.
