f/a-18 vs airwolf...might be possible in real life...but airwolf vs Mig-31 firefox.....most likely not possible since airwolf was only a Mach 1 helo and the firefox was mach 6...in terms of raw speed ..too much of a speed difference.
@kevhlubtsisuasib Airwolf was believed to fly only at Mach 1 but in numerous episodes Airwolf has travelled way faster than Mach 1 in the hands of Hawke.

Wow this is one of the best video editing I have seen.. nice and clean with just the music score in place through the video.. Airwolf would be a long running series if nothing happened to the orginal cast for the show. Hulu for the save, all 4 seasons are there..
@vfIskullangel Uhh actually attack helicopters are extreamly dangerous to engage with fighter jets. In military experiments conducted by the US air-force attack helicopters could attain a 5:1 kill ratio against fighter jets. This disparity was so much so that the US military does not allow its fighter jets to attack helicopters except from beyond the horizon or from high altitude; in which case airworlf can use its stealth capabilities.
@vflskyllangel the F4 and the F15 were the fighter jets that were used in the experiment while Cobra's and Kiowa's were the helicopters btw so the f-15 probably would be the one going home with its tail between its legs.

it is the same speed difference that would make the jet less maneuverable than the helicopter. The faster the aircraft, the wider the turns. The heli would stop and turn on a dime, making it more difficult to hit, and it is a more stable weapons platform, making the jet easier to hit. Speed does not always win. (Navy Heli-pilot)

Theres another one that shows airwolf diving at the ground head first - only the pilot pulls up and ends up hovering 4 ft off the ground in front of the camera. Totally ace :) Its been burned in my brain for 30 odd years!
Airwolf has stealth technology and any missile shot would be defeated by the sunbursts and superior flying skills of Jan Michael Vincent. BVR AMRAAM shots, no chance. Sparrow, Sidewinder no chance, Airwolf can fly backwards breaking any radar/heat lock using skill and sunbursts. Hornets only chance would be to get in close and try in futility to get a gun kill... against the best pilot Jan Michael Vincent. The best the hornets could hope for is to run out of gas and turn back.
Airwolf flown by Stringfellow Hawke and Dominic Santini destroy everything in the sky. Period. Helicopters flown by regular pilots can get shot down yes, but not Airwolf. Apaches dont have sunburst technology.

Air wolf is a Bell which has absoletly no stealth technology at all. Its mythical performance is what put its ahead of the pack but remember this chopper was created when stealth wasn't even exposed to the public so no way in hell this has stealth.
Not to the publics acknolegment it wasn't exposed till 87-88 with the F-117 otherwise prior to that nobody other than the builders knew of its existance.
no helicopter is going to beat a fighter plane in combat. no helicopter in real life is going to approach mach 1 for a long time. even at mach 1 max speed of airwolf, it would have no chance against any modern fighter.
I like to see helicopters taking on fighter planes = total disaster. Would be hiliarious to watch. Helicopters are good at taking out slow moving targets (tanks), troops to a lesser extent and other helicopters.
You have to remember one thing most aircrafts are going so fast that they can't pision themselves for a shot like a Helicopter can. Remember Blue thunder? That wasn't bullshit what happened to those F-16's it could happen if conditions are right regardless of what aircraft it is.
The Apache couldn't take on an aircraft out in the opend no doubt but in the canyons diffrent story any fighter will have problems.
Oh, I loved this series when I was young, it was the best thing that was on TV in the 80's. Watched this with my older brother and dad on saturday afternoon's though when it first came on it was in the late evenings here in the UK. I was blown away when I saw the first intro. The music is just as brilliant as when I first heard it. I use to play helecopter shooter game called Fort Appocollipes on my Atari 800 XL computer and sang the tune as I shot at mobile tanks that fired rockets lol.

F/A-18 fired a sparrow missile at Airwolf. Sparrow is radar guided. The sunburst flare would not have spoofed a radar guided missile. A Sidewinder is IR guided and might have been spoofed.
The F117 has absluotely no air to air capablies whatsoever even Blue Thunder will simply gundown an F117 because it can't defend itself against other aircrafts. The Wraith did a movie with AW vs some modified F117 with a lightning attack against AW and won.
A Raptor or Lightning II on the other hand will win against AW because they are very stealthy and have better Air to air capablites than anything else flying on our skies today.
Not really, Blue thunder, air wolf and a few others are still up to date regardless of generation, look at the F-15 its still dominates and yet that was released back in the early 70's a totally diffrent gen than todays.
If Airwolf could actually store all of the weapons systems they use in the show, Airwolf might have a chance. You can't fit air to air missles in those tiny rocket pods. You can't deploy different size/types of weapons out of the same tubes. The RAH-66 is the closest thing to AW.

Stealth didn't hit the scene until AW was almost done. Nobody knew what stealth was until after 1987.

Give me a break!
Air wolf is a Bell which has absoletly no stealth technology at all. Its mythical performance is what put its ahead of the pack but remember this chopper was created when stealth wasn't even exposed to the public so no way in hell this has stealth.

Not to the publics acknolegment it wasn't exposed till 87-88 with the F-117 otherwise prior to that nobody other than the builders knew of its existance.

no helicopter is going to beat a fighter plane in combat. no helicopter in real life is going to approach mach 1 for a long time. even at mach 1 max speed of airwolf, it would have no chance against any modern fighter.

The AH-64 Longbow Apache has the capablitlies to shot down fighter aircrafts and there's also a couple of other Helis that can do the same.

I like to see helicopters taking on fighter planes = total disaster. Would be hiliarious to watch. Helicopters are good at taking out slow moving targets (tanks), troops to a lesser extent and other helicopters.

Helicopters cannot take on fighters like the AH-64 cannot take on an F-15 or a F-14 for that matter.
Airwolf is fiction, so it makes sense for it to battle stuff like aircraft

You have to remember one thing most aircrafts are going so fast that they can't pision themselves for a shot like a Helicopter can. Remember Blue thunder? That wasn't bullshit what happened to those F-16's it could happen if conditions are right regardless of what aircraft it is.
The Apache couldn't take on an aircraft out in the opend no doubt but in the canyons diffrent story any fighter will have problems.

Oh, I loved this series when I was young, it was the best thing that was on TV in the 80's. Watched this with my older brother and dad on saturday afternoon's though when it first came on it was in the late evenings here in the UK. I was blown away when I saw the first intro. The music is just as brilliant as when I first heard it. I use to play helecopter shooter game called Fort Appocollipes on my Atari 800 XL computer and sang the tune as I shot at mobile tanks that fired rockets lol.

F/A-18 fired a sparrow missile at Airwolf. Sparrow is radar guided. The sunburst flare would not have spoofed a radar guided missile. A Sidewinder is IR guided and might have been spoofed.

Wrong!
The F117 has absluotely no air to air capablies whatsoever even Blue Thunder will simply gundown an F117 because it can't defend itself against other aircrafts. The Wraith did a movie with AW vs some modified F117 with a lightning attack against AW and won.
A Raptor or Lightning II on the other hand will win against AW because they are very stealthy and have better Air to air capablites than anything else flying on our skies today.

Not really, Blue thunder, air wolf and a few others are still up to date regardless of generation, look at the F-15 its still dominates and yet that was released back in the early 70's a totally diffrent gen than todays.
Aircrafts where built to last.

And, Goodsux I know Airwolf could beat down many F-22 Raptors because of incompetent pilots.
Let me see oir F-117 Stealth Bomber desytoed over Bosnia. F-22's ad F-18's etc etc shot down in Iraq.
So it is never the plane nor chopter but the pilot.

If Airwolf could actually store all of the weapons systems they use in the show, Airwolf might have a chance. You can't fit air to air missles in those tiny rocket pods. You can't deploy different size/types of weapons out of the same tubes. The RAH-66 is the closest thing to AW.
