  • If I shut down the guest first can I just use the simple Migrate option in the VIC rather than all this Command Line Stuff?

    I am going from a MSA1000 to a MSA2000.

  • The migrate from the GUI based VI client with ESX 3.x will allow you to select a new datastore for the VM - if the guest is Shutdown. The command line is required for a "live" storage VMotion.

  • There is a third party plugin available for the VI client that integrates Storage VMotion into the GUI. It is available from lostcreations. I haven't tested it yet. Anybody seen a video demo of it?

  • You no longer have to use the CLI to perform a storage vmotion as there is now a plugin available for the VI client. Please see the VMware blog for more information.
