@jjlwis actually, ford did a great job, you can't tell which one is by wire or which one has a cable by driving them, both are equally responsive, unlike many new chrysler vehicles, and the pedal feels exactly the same in either car.

a 4.6L is equal to 280ci, not very big at all a 5.7L is equal to 350ci

why does the 06 have a different sound? did the electric TB make that big a difference in sound?

@JX426 the 06 has the electronic throttle which is larger than the old cable ones by 10mm so the engine can get a lot more air for more power.

its larger, intake is still the same size so they will bolt on each car. just the bore where the plate closes is larger. it sucks that the new ones are elec. or people would be using them on the older one for an upgrade.

im a master ford tech . these cars are very durable but they are so terribly slow . i wonder what ford will do when the panther platform phases out in 2011? maybe a taurus police package?

well Chevy is so conveniently rolling out its new police car in 2011 which now called the

PPV (police patrol vehicle) which is a Pontiac g8 but with a Chevy grille and it will have the gm 6.0 so it will be a great contender. I think everyone can agree that Ford fwd cars are NOT durable like the rwd ford. even the fwd chevys are not proving to be very durable. ever think we might see some imports come into the police market? Or more dodge like back in the 80s

They have timing chains. White one (2004)still has normal throttle on it. The Black/White one (2006) has the new throttle by wire, electronic throttle plates, the gas pedal is now just a sensor and the computer opens the throttle..

and thusly if the parameters are meet it will perform, if not it could go in limp mode or wont run at all as preventative measure like in the 6.0's and 6.4's..
