Jesus Christ established one Church on earth (Matthew 16:18), "the pillar and foundation of truth (1 Timothy 3:15)." He positioned Peter as the first pope to guide the flock (John 21:15-17), and that position has been passed down through a linage of popes (Acts 1:20) to our current Pope Benedict XVI. And the gates of hell shall not prevail against this Church (Matthew 16:19).
The Catholic Church is the one, holy, catholic, and apostolic church that Jesus Christ himself established and sustains.
Thank you so much, Deacon John, for this video. As a non-participating Catholic married to a non-Catholic, I still attend Mass as I love the Sunday homily. Thank you again for a great video and look forward to the next one. God bless you.
Its very insightful, really great nd profound teachings. the teachings on the practical mechanics of the job of a deacon is very good and i think it is important as not many people really do know about deacons as such. Much blessings. Joseph
great video, keep up the good work. You were off to a great start and you had my attention about what a Deacon is and does, then you veered off to the ccc. As a nearly 50 year old guy who really loves the Church, I would like to hear more about the process of becoming a Deacon. Can you talk more about this in the future?
Deacon John, I enjoyed your video very much and look forward to all of your future works. May our Lord bless you and keep you and your loved ones in His grace.
The next video will be about the "Communion of Saints" because that's where this one left off. Hoping to do the "Real Presence" next. Can you remember the movie, "The Wizard of Oz"? Remember when they got to the Emerald City how they got all cleaned up before they could go in to see the wizard? That's what purgatory is. Guess I'll have to make a video to explain that... stand by.
I have a question; I was arguing with a more traditionalist oriented Catholic, who believed the doctrine of "baptism of desire" to be a heresy. He said that the Catechism has not been infallibly declared infallible, therefore we Catholics don't have to believe it when it declares that the Church affirms the baptism of desire.
By the narrowest definition, I suppose you would have to say that the Catechism is not infallible, but Lumen Gentium (Vatican II)#25 says, "This loyal submission of the will and intellect must be given to the Roman Pontiff even when he doesn not speak ex-cathedra". On the first page of the Catechism, it says, "Promulgated by Pope John Paul II". I think that answers the question of belief and adherence.
Well done! I liked the meaningful content and the easy style and look forward to future episodes. May God bless you and your worthy efforts for His kingdom.
I had considered Q+A format for the next video. In the meantime, people can ask questions and I can answer (the best I can) right here in the comments. Thanks for your input- Deacon John
Thank-You. This video set the tone of the series on a practical foundation. I am sure your efforts will contribute to the forces of good in the world. Good Job! Keep up the Good work.
What a beautiful presentation!!!! It's been so long overdue and it is wonderful to see that the net has been cast far!!!! May God bless you abundantly for taking upon this task, for sacrificing your life to serve His Church and for having the heart of a servant. May your family too be richly blessed for recognizing this and for sharing you with everyone else.
I really enjoyed it and am looking forward to more! The timing was great and you come across very honest and sincere. People will feel your loving heart. Thank you for teaching me personally about the love and peace found in the church our Savior and his Apostles started.
A GOOD INTRO!

GREAT job Deacon and please continue this wonderful work of God!!!
I have a suggestion: I think as the series progresses you should create a Q&A section where people can ask and be informed about Faith.
Thanks and Remain Blessed
