victor and victoria were in love from the first moment on. and no matter how much harmony there is between victor and emily - they are the protagonists, but they don't end up together. that's what makes the story original and lovely. i would not want to have that changed.

Like Nightmare Before Christmas and Edward Scissorhands-two masterpieces of modern film IMHO-even with the ghoulish horrors you still burst with tears at some point because its so beautiful and tragic. Burton is a visionary filmmaker-and this film is underrated...
Y do ppl not like Victoria? Because she got Victor and Emily didn't? Emily's happy ending was to be set free to move on were they wherever they may go. Victoria and Victor got their happy ending too. It's not about "getting the guy" it's about wat the characters want.

But it would be such a twist; the dead (and alive) producing another life in the place of hers.

Perhaps it's a bit silly, but this scene hits me very hard. Every facet of Tim Burton's brilliance are illustrated in this moment - there are so many emotions here that dissecting them seems not only impossible, but as though I'd be doing this moment a grave injustice were I to try.
I cry everytime I see this, and this is the first movie I ever cried on. I'm watching the movie and right when that part come on I bust into tears, "Oh my God that was so beautiful!" My sister stares at me, but its bittersweet.
I wouldn't call it bittersweet, because Emily was happy again in the end. She may not have hooked up with Victor, but she willingly let him go to be with Victoria, and she was perfectly satisfied with that. So in the long run, I'd say it was a relatively happy ending for each of them.
I figure as long as she held on to earthly feeling like sadness,regret and sorrow she remained a earthbound. But it was Victor's willingness to die to keep a promise that renewed her faith in people and herself. So she finally released all those painful emotions with a sigh and ascend to heaven in a cloud of butterflies. Brillant!

the part when my heart sank, a lump in my throat, my gut hurt, breathless, and the scene just turn blurry cause it started to rain...hard

Perhaps it's a bit silly, but this scene hits me very hard. Every facet of Tim Burton's brilliance are illustrated in this moment - there are so many emotions here that dissecting them seems not only impossible, but as though I'd be doing this moment a grave injustice were I to try.

I cry everytime I see this, and this is the first movie I ever cried on. I'm watching the movie and right when that part come on I bust into tears, "Oh my God that was so beautiful!" My sister stares at me, but its bittersweet.
Because I just adored Emily.

I wouldn't call it bittersweet, because Emily was happy again in the end. She may not have hooked up with Victor, but she willingly let him go to be with Victoria, and she was perfectly satisfied with that. So in the long run, I'd say it was a relatively happy ending for each of them.

I figure as long as she held on to earthly feeling like sadness,regret and sorrow she remained a earthbound. But it was Victor's willingness to die to keep a promise that renewed her faith in people and herself. So she finally released all those painful emotions with a sigh and ascend to heaven in a cloud of butterflies. Brillant!
