  • Doug was one of my parents best friends, they were with him when he died, RIP.

  • I first watched "STEEP" around 6 months ago, and have watched it many times since, although somehow, never got to the end of the film. So to me watching it made Doug Coombs one of my hero's.   • My uncle roomed with Doug for 5 years when they first moved to Jackson. I have heard amazing stories from my uncle Walt, they were the best of friends. 24 hours of Aspen ski race was won by Doug.....while he was on acid....amazing.

  • @iriwan Ski accident in France in 2006, while he was stepping down from a rock trying to reach a fallen friend. The rock broke under his feet and he fell off to his death, which I believe was instant. His friend was still alive when rescuers reached him but died on the way to the hospital. RIP both of them. DC was a true legend

    It was the tune that started this segment.

    Such a sad loss to a great dude that knew how to turn left and right and did it very fuckin well...

  • I am honored and privileged to have had the opportunity to ski with Doug during his Steep Camps in Jackson. Thankfully my life has never been the same since. He let the genie out of the bottle for me and I never fail to give thanks every time I boot up and click in. On that note the same goes for his amazing wife Emily. She showed me places in bounds around Jackson that I might not have found in many seasons of exploring. My gratitude is immense.
