  • I could be mistaken, i;ve only watched the young turks twice. From my own experience they view everything through the narrow scope of dnc = good guys and gop = bad guys. Maybe i was assuming too much after only watching a small bit. is there a link to something where they agree with the right?

  • The thing about "The Young Turks" that I like is that they attack President Obama and people on both sides of the isle (mostly Republicans) with actual facts. They are a Progressive show, but that doesn't mean they are biased. I can see where the negative connotation can come into play when they specifically side with a specific group/party, but I've been able to look past that, and see TYT for what they truly are: a fair show.

Democrat or Republican, I'd recommend seeing more clips.

  • i think uve convinced me to check them out a little bit more. maybe they aren't as biased as i thought. But being a "progressive" show kind of implies that they see every snippet of news through the prism of liberalism. That would make them biased. I'll check out some vids of theirs later tonight tho.

  • Awesome! And after watching some more clips, you would have the ability to create a logical opinion about that show based on seeing it for yourself.

Keep in mind, the part that may turn Republicans off (I'm not sure if you are one, but just in case) is some of the humor implied in their commentation. For example: They make fun of Palin's accent when they quote her. It fits in perfectly, because they can completely debunk what she says, but it may sound "biased" to a Republican's ears.

  • msnbc is worse. they wont even have competent right wingers on

  • So because MSNBC doesn't have any right wingers, that makes them "worse"?

  • Msnbc only has concilitory, idiotic right wing peeps on. Fox at least invites smart lefties as well as nutjobs and moderates. I agree that fox isnt fair and balanced, but neither is pmsnbc, cnn, ny times, washington post, san fransisco sun, etc etc etc etc

  • True, but that makes their stories illegitimate?

  • The difference is, Fox takes a RNC memo and copies it, complete with typos, and passes it off as their "research". No other news outlet does that. That is PROPOGANDA, not news. It's an outrage.

  • Both styles are legit. Biased news is still news. Reporting on politics in a completely non-partisan way is pretty tough. Even after world war II, there were news stories decrying our "abuse" of captured nazis. Whenever i read something i make sure to take note of the source. "So the right-wing spin from the heritage foundation on the climate summit is. . . . And the left-wing spin from the new york times is.." I'm sure you know the young turks is a very partisan source btw

  • The definition of "bias" contradicts what The Young Turks actually are. The definition of bias relates to the fact that you would support something/one / a party unfairly. But how can expressing your opinions, while supporting them with facts and evidence be biased, under that definition?

  • You are absolutely correct in your observation.

Fox goes one step beyond debate, though, in my opinion. If you watch Sean Hannity or Laura Ingraham, they don't interview or even debate their liberal guests, they prosecute them. They use typical prosecution tactics like asking questions they already have an answer for, and then trying to steer the guest into saying what they want their viewers to hear.

Read up on basic trial strategies, and then compare them to Fox. Good luck in school!

  • Thanks!

If time permits, I'll be sure to look into "basic trial strategies", and then compare them to "FOX News".

  • hey loser. i got a great idea. write to o'rielly, or hannity on fox. challenge one to a debate. o'rielly has invited many people on his show to debate him. he even promise to not edit anything. then, you can bring all ur notes & tips. i promise you that you will get your ass handed to you. then you can go back to smalltown usa as the lone liberal & go back to making youtube videos. you have a gripe w/ conservatives & you feel there is tricky, go on the show. i want too see u look like a fool.

  • Lol. Maybe I will...

And to correct a small note, I live in Blaine, MN, which has around 45,000 people, and 10-15 minutes away from Minneapolis. Not to mention the fact that Blaine is extremely Conservative, and we have Bachmann as a Representative (ugh).

  • @DixonRants good! write to him. o'rielly had a segment in the past that allows viewers to openly challenge him. but you might think twice since he will probably will make you look very stupid, & you only get one shot at this in life. i was 100% right in my observation, you strike me as typical guy from a small community who feels ''he is a big fish in small pond''. minnesota used to be a conservative state but over the last 15-20 yrs has changed 360 degrees. as for bachman, she is a good woman.

  • Minnesota typically votes Democrat, but I live in a very Conservative city. Not only does it show that demographically, but also, most of my friends are Conservative.

  • good. you first debate shoud be on how minnesota muslim taxi drivers refuse to transport people from the airports who carry alcohol. lets see how the liberals handle this one since our freedoms are being taken away.

  • Is that true? Didn't know that.

  • we get CNN and fox news in the UK now and there crap its just a load idiots reading news which they don't even understand. they seem to talk as though America is the best country in the world and that everywhere else wants to be like them. when the Scottish parliament let the Lockerbie bomber go Fox blamed Gordon Brown when he is the head of the British parliament not the Scottish one, and CNN blamed Obama for not telling the British whos boss. CNN are a bunch of arseholes.

  • I do believe that FOX News talks as if they are the greatest, but not so much CNN.

Their some some people on CNN that I discredit, such as Lou Dobbs. Perhaps if you give me some clips to prove your point about CNN, I may be able to believe you more on the matter.

    Thanks for the comment!

  • it was a while ago so i wont be able to prove it but it was more implied than said.

  • I deeply wish more people studied debate, logical fallacies, and critical thinking. You give me hope.

  • Thanks!

  • Glad to hear you're doing well in debate, what you say is true, FoxNews will not release information that will hurt their own agenda, that's why many of their stories differ so much from other news stations, they have a clear agenda to support.

  • Thanks! And I fully agree with you upon their outrageous agenda that they support.
