My grandmother has 3 pictures of garbo in her photoalbum, Garbo was friends with my grandmothers older sister but only for a few years since my grandmother and her family moved to england. I know it´s silly but it makes me proud, i mean how many people have an original greta garbo picture in their photoalbums?!!

Garbo was just a myth. She was not good at relationships. She apparently, had good public relations because the real woman we will never know. Guess I just need to read more about her life; if that's possible.

just watched the full Garbo DVD collection! What a great treasure! She WAS everything they said she was!! She & the camera were in love and she better than anyone, could act her parts through her face ,eyes and very subtle movements on screen. I understand why the public fell in love with this stunning beauty ....Who wouldn't?

There's always been this misconception that Garbo never laughed or smiled (on or off camera) before Ninotchka, but these photos -- as well as films like Queen Christina in which she has some very funny moments -- prove this to be a fallacy.

It's not a misconception. She seldom laughed. It was one of the reasons that Tallulah Bankhead endeared herself to Garbo cos she made her laugh when they first met. Ernst Lubitsch initially did not want her to do Ninotchka cos she was so gloomy. He asked her "Can u laugh?", she said "I think so", he asked "Do u laugh often?", she said "not often", then he asked "can u laugh right now?" & she replied "Let me come back tomorrow" She came the next day & said she was ready to laugh, & she laughed.
