The russian was one of the best 400M runners and floJo was the best 100m & 200M and couldn't match the Russian in this event. Today's training methods and athletes have to use natural methods but still can't run 47 and 48 times for the 400M and that is due to steriods and doping. You don't see any russian or german getting 47 or 48 now but too bad for today's athletes, they didn't test enough then.

Flo Jo had just run a sprint race earlier that day, so she really didn't get to rest her muscles. she pretty much had used her energy that morning. no other runner had to compete that day.

Bryzgina was a brilliant 400M runner and no doubt was running for her life in this race... Flo-Jo had to produce something spectacular to beat her. I would have put Brisco-Hooks on the anchor leg as she was a 400M specialist so had a better chance of bringing the gold medal home. Great race!
Flo Jo ran well but she was never going to beat the great Olga Bryzgina. Bryzgina was a POWERHOUSE at 400 metres only Koch & Perec have ever beaten her so that says a lot. .Flo Jo did amazingly well to hang on to her though. 48.1 for Flo Jo Wow! That's same time Alison Felix ran. Alison Felix could be the next Marita Koch and she's still so young.
Not true, bryzgina lost several times against other athletes actualy.. In the 80's and in the 90's. She wasn't unbeatable during her whole career. But she clearly was here!!!

Flo Jo split 48.1 on her leg, that's the second fastest by an American woman, the fastest was ran by Allyson Felix in Osaka on the 4x400 when she split 48.0 although some have debated that she actually split 47.97, I'll go with what's official though. They assumed that with her other-worldly 100/200m speed, she'd be able to compete with Bryzgina. I mean she was the fastest one of the 4 americans. And she did run 48.0 on this leg. So it was a good move. Olga was just a better runner on this day.
Perhaps had FloJo not run so many races in advance, the outcome may have been different. Still, considering all she had already done in those Olympics (100m, 200m and heats, 4x100 relay), and the 400 not being her normal event, she still finished pretty close. However, it was still a mistake to use her. Someone with fresher legs running the anchor and the US may have won the gold.

Well actually Alyson Felix ran 48.1 in her 4x400 relay at the 2007 world champs and that was an event she wan't even known for at the time. There's plenty of athletes that have achieved that. run Plus that is a relay time. Individual split times tend to be a bit quicker. Yes, Brisco Hooks would've done well on the anchor leg... her third leg was awsome in this race - she clocked 48.5! She was a more experienced 400m runner than Flo-Jo so may have won USA the gold medal!

Bryzgina was a brilliant 400M runner and no doubt was running for her life in this race... Flo-Jo had to produce something spectacular to beat her. I would have put Brisco-Hooks on the anchor leg as she was a 400M specialist so had a better chance of bringing the gold medal home. Great race!

Flo Jo ran well but she was never going to beat the great Olga Bryzgina. Bryzgina was a POWERHOUSE at 400 metres only Koch & Perec have ever beaten her so that says a lot. .Flo Jo did amazingly well to hang on to her though. 48.1 for Flo Jo Wow! That's same time Alison Felix ran. Alison Felix could be the next Marita Koch and she's still so young.

Flo Jo split 48.1 on her leg, that's the second fastest by an American woman, the fastest was ran by Allyson Felix in Osaka on the 4x400 when she split 48.0 although some have debated that she actually split 47.97, I'll go with what's official though. Shows just how much talent and potential she has.

They assumed that with her other-worldly 100/200m speed, she'd be able to compete with Bryzgina. I mean she was the fastest one of the 4 americans. And she did run 48.0 on this leg. So it was a good move. Olga was just a better runner on this day.

Perhaps had FloJo not run so many races in advance, the outcome may have been different. Still, considering all she had already done in those Olympics (100m, 200m and heats, 4x100 relay), and the 400 not being her normal event, she still finished pretty close. However, it was still a mistake to use her. Someone with fresher legs running the anchor and the US may have won the gold.

Well actually Alyson Felix ran 48.1 in her 4x400 relay at the 2007 world champs and that was an event she wan't even known for at the time. There's plenty of athletes that have achieved that. run Plus that is a relay time. Individual split times tend to be a bit quicker. And if you did a bit more research you'd relise her death had nothing to do with drugs. Maybe she was or maybe she wasn't but you should stick to the facts.
