seems hyper spirit evolution only give a power-upgrade for the element's user,

in this case,

eventhough takuya combine 5 element spirits (fire, ice, wind, land and wood) but the element still fire but become stronger

I've noticed that as the seasons progressed the digivolutions began to look more like sentai (power rangers/kamen rider) transformations.

Just noticed: In the digimon series, if you have only a few characters, all of them are equally powerfull, and if you have a lot of them, only one or two are the strongest, while the others are mediun:

Digimon Adventure: Only Yamato and Taichi's digimons could reach Kyuukyokutai, the rest were struck in Kanzentai.

DA02: The same with Daisuke and Ken (Kyuukyoku shinka from Paildramon)

Tamers: A few important characters, all on them on Kyuukyokutai.

Frontier: Only 2 on Kyuukyokutai.

Savers: All.

@TheKogiro Well, i guess that is because making them equally powerful would require a lot more char developement for each and too many "enemy of the month" to give them a personal reason to evolve further.

Unlisted however Takeru and Hikari both had digimon that could contend on the Ultimate level without fully evolving and by the second season, both were able to use the Ultimate form as well. (Confirmed in the movie)

However,this also occurs in Digimon 02(Ken+Davis) and Tamers(Galantmon fusing with that weird thing) Didn't watch 5 and 6,so I don't know if there is also a main-main character
