Um, I don't see how this is ironic at all? This song is about her former partner, and how she needed him to be a man, hence 'you should be stronger than me, you've been here seven years longer than me' - 'I feel like a lady, and you my lady-boy'.. She was the strong one in the relationship, always having to hold him up and be the adult. This song represents her realization of that fact, and was her way of speaking out about it at the time. She speaks about it in her earlier interviews.
