  • +++++++++

  • vakkert sunget

  • lenge leve Konge og Fedreland!

    Long live King and Country

  • God Save His Majesty Harald the Fifth, Greeting from the United Kingdom !

  • AMEN!!

  • Leve Norge! Og leve Norges konge! Hail Odin!

  • i suppose the occasional storm can be exiting, but you must want to see the sun sometimes! it's very rare in scotland!

  • yeak, haakon is cool, i love our royal family, which is quite odd since i want independence for scotland, and i don't like republicanism, thats why the SNP's still want her as Queen just not as head of our government. i would very much enjoy a scottish monarchy, and i am from the Stuart dynasty from my mother's side of the family. some politicians are ok, i enjoyed margaret thatcher and her outspokenness, she really helped the UK. do you not ever get bored wiht norwegian weather?!

  • I guessed! I might study Scandinavian studies in Edinburgh University, and I know German which is kind of similar. Well, where I live, though it's near Edinburgh, which is the best, is a rubbish place to live, not near the sea! But I miss living in the highlands a lot! But even though the present government is not doing everything good, now i think is not the time for independence with the financial crisis, but there is a referendum next year so we'll see! do you like the norwegian royal family?

  • i wish my schools let us study about Scandinavian history :(

    we just have American studies

  • well, Sean Connery is never here so he doesn't do much with the political side of things, just to boost their image i suppose, but any publicity is good publicity i guess. do you live near oslo or more north, your weatehr must be absolutely freezing the now. i dont like the westminster government either, not with gordon brown inn power, shame because hes scottish! but holyrood governmet is good, not as good as it could be if it was independent! greetings from edinburgh!

  • i know, at least i dont have the surname brown! macleod is a bit more interesting, it is a good thing that most people dont know what it means! hopefully i didnt sound like a spoff! and i am indeed a patriot, and i am a keen supporter of the Scottish National Party and independence for scotland, similar to your country! whats life like in norway?

  • pure bullshit.

When i look up Scottish history(any place) there is nowhere any Vikings mentioned in the creation of the country.

This is a field in history that interests me(and trust me! I'm a history geek).

    Look it up dude.

The history of the Scots starts way before the Viking era.

  • graavarg is entirely right, I am scottish and i came from the western isles of scotland, where vikings did settle, and for your information, i am a macleod, meaning i am a son of lead and 'leod'is a norse name meaning unfortunately ''ugly''. i can trace my ancestry all the way back to olaf the black, cousin of hardrada, you are very much mistaken! and i study scottish history in scotland. :D

  • King hardrade? You mean the guy who managed die during the invasion on The Saxons?

I talk about SCOTLAND and Scotland goes back LONG before that time!

  • well done, yes thats who i am tlaking about. but the vikings were instrumental in the making of scotland, their history with us has left a lot of marks. and i live inscotland, am scottish, and study scottish history in scotland, so im afraid i probably know much more about it than you would, where exactly are you from if you dont mind me asking. plus, it was cousin, olaf the black, not himself, who founded my clan. if you look on the flag of the isle of man, you will see the three legs

  • I'm Norwegian and study Norwegian history in Norway.

    I would know about emigrations.

Ofc there are some places around the Scottish isles that were settled by vikings.

They tried to settle in Ireland too.

The Viking Era was from 300-900 A.D

And Scotland existed before that(just not under the name of Scotland).

The guy i first talked to said "common ancestry". Since Scandinavians didn't use to travel far over seas before the viking Era then "common ancestry" sounds bizarre.

  • ok, i dont care where you studied, just what you know. and we are both kind of agreeing on the same points. nowhere did i say the vikings created scotland, but they were very instrumental, probably starting of the race of gaels, or that could be from the story of Egyptian Scota. But they have given their names to clans as well as to placenames, so it is tru that many scots, though not all of them do hvae scandinavian roots. i would like to know more about in what way you study norwegian history

  • I simply can't handle it when people fake history.

    Common ancestry=Common ancestry.

I have Turkish ancestors and yet that doesn't make Norwegians have common ancestry with Turks.

  • sorry, but i never said anything about common ancestry, but during the period from AD 800-AD1300 the western isles where i am from were culturally scandinavian and politically part of norway, so some, though definitely not all scots have common ancestry, just lke myself, and i have checked this and found it to be true, i dont like faking history either, and neither do i intend to do so!

  • And like i said earlier i wasn't originally talking to you.

It was someone else who said "common ancestry".

  • you never once said that, and why say it to me anyway if i wasnt even talking about it?!

  • "sorry, but i never said anything about common ancestry".

    That is why.

Because i talked to graavarg first.

  • then, like i said, talk to graavarg, not me, there's it plain and simple, jsut try to grasp that

  • Yeah, but i didn't.

    You contacted me first.

  • clearly not, you were conversing (more like arguing) with graavarg, then i intervened, so, it was him/her not me, and still, he right there if you want to say it to him! bet ill have a reply in no time knowing you! lol

  • which are also on the macledo crest or was on the crest, because olaf was the king of mann and also in control of the western isles of scotland, called king of mann, and it is proven that he is related to hardrada as they were both of the same dynasty of norse kings. can i ask where you get your information from?

  • Nix.

The Viking invasion of England started in Scotland but the Vikings were eventually pushed out of Britain.

Scotland is the area that the Romans in England didn't manage to conquer because of the "barbarians" there. These barbarians were the Scots.

The vikings had little to do with the Scots.

The Scots were often plundered by the Vikings.

So Norwegians and Scots does not have the same ancestry.

  • um... no.

  • true, i am a MacLeod, and so I am a Son of Leod, unfortunately Leod means 'ugly' but Olaf the Black founded the clan, and his cousin i think is hardrada, and i think he founded oslo! what's ti like living in norway?

  • god jul

  • god jul

  • absolutely brilliant!

greeting from scotland! my roots are norwegian but im afraid i remain loyal to scotland!

  • better watch out then, so we dont do a "Israel" on you! :P

Nah, just kidding. Norway and scotland have always had a good relationship :)

  • lol, i really need to visit norway, scotland can sometimes be too small!

  • Scotland?small?oh wait i guess it is kind of small compared to Norway :P

  • Rörande till tårar...

  • It was the franch king in 1645, it was sung to first, then the english king/queen in the 1900 ct.

Then it was "given" to the danish and norwegian king in the end of the 1900 ct. and whene Norway did get ther king in 1905 it was Norwegian.

So needer the English or the Norwegians had it first.

And yes they had it in Germany, Russia and USA

  • My bad I mean My Country tis of Thee..?

  • Its actually God Save the Queen

Many countries have adopted the tune of the British anthem as its very dignified - Germany had "Heil Dir Im Siegerkranz", Russia had God Save the Tsar, Norway has this, America has "my country tis of thee"

  • Ja, vi elsker det norsk kvinner!

    Hailsa Norge! Hailsa, brodur...

  • Where did you learn that nonsense? That last line is not Norwegian.

  • Sorry if you got offended by my mistake although I see no reason for that.

    I mispelled the word "heilsa"

  • Heilsa isnt even a norwegian word..

  • "Yes we love it Norwegian women.

Hail Norway, hail brothers..."I suspect you for inventing your own gibberish norwegian here...But its not bad!I totally see the meaning here!A word like "hail" would never be used in Norwegian, correct form will be something like:"Leve Norge, leve våre brødre!"(Live Norway, live(our)brothers!)

  • I am a German. I visited the Kingdom of Norway 4 times. My respect the the norwegian People. I love Norway.

  • Gratulere med dagen Harald 21/2

  • This is "Kongesangen", The Norway's royal anthem, just as the heading says. It´s an adaptation of "God Save the Queen". The Norwegian anthem is of course something else.

  • It sounds as if they are singing Britain's national anthem, God Save the Queen in Norwegian.

  • For the love of all that is holy, this is not our national anthem!

Our national anthem is "Ja, vi elsker"

  • nævn to gode thing ved skandinavien: danmark og norge. nævn en dårlig: sverige

  • Haha. Nej! Gæt hvor jeg er fra?

  • Jeg er fra Norge. ^^,

  • Lämna Jesus utanför det här...God sång annars..tre stjärnor!!

  • STAND AND SHOW YOUR REPSECT - UFF DA !

  • You Americans will never understand Europe.

  • Many of us Americans DO understand Europe..many of us could say the same about you Europeans. Learn to take people as individuals, not lump them all into a group that they are all the same :-)

  • actually we understand it quite well min vän

  • It's the exact tune to the British anthem God Save the Queen.

  • Its the same song actualy.

  • Liknar den Engelska nationalsången mycket. Väldigt vackert. Gud välsigne Norge och hennes Konung.

  • This song is the kings anthem. (Konge sangen). The National Anthem is "Ja, vi elsker"

  • now here it is a decent anthem for a decent country!

  • its not our anthem actually.

  • Flott
