just the coolest...so effortless. what a performance!!! one of my idols. i must have played this about 25 times now. she teaches you a lot with her musicianship. what a find, too bad there is not more.
Chet Baker sang this song a lot. I'm trying to learn more about the tune. On one lead sheet found in fake book ("JazzLTD") Tad Dameron is listed as the composer. But on Chet's CDs ("Chet Baker with Fifty Italian Strings") it lists two different people as composers. I can't find my CD or any information online. VERY hard to find out anything about this tune.
@postbop yes, I am. Thanks a lot, man. I actually have some video from there from a couple weeks ago that I could upload. The pianist threatened me, but since you dig it so much...
Richie Kamuca on tenor sax, Russ Freeman on piano, Monty Budwig on bass and, of course, Shelly Manne on drums. Anybody know who the trumpet player is?
So sorry not to have been able to see her live. She did a song called "It's A Wonderful World" (not the Louis Armstrong song). It is one of my favorite songs and I plan to add it to my song list. I am a jazz singer and it is such a swinging tune. I only hope I can find the sheet music or a chart for it. If you know where I might find a chart for that song I would really appreciate it.
Irene Kral is the reason I'm a jazz singer today. I'm so grateful for her art/heart. Check out her version of Star Eyes, or her album with Steve Allen called "SteveIreno".
The great Irene Kral who left us too soon. Like a long drink of water for those of us who thirst for the classic period of American music. Thanks very much !
Please note that her splendid album "The Band and I" and its followup collection of songs by Steven Allen are at last out on C.D. Not to be missed.

You mentioned Joe Gordon in your deleted comment, glene37, and he died Oct. 24, '63. Anybody know the date this show aired?

I understood this to be a Tad Dameron tune. The chart has him listed as composer. Anybody know anything about this?
