  • I fed my mantis a grasshopper bigger than herself and it took her hours to saw around the head she kept giving up and retrying and she only ate a little bit of it the rest fell down on the floor and she never goes down there she wasted almost all of it and if I didn't remove the grasshoppers massive legs she would have never caught it.

  • IV never seen a praying mantis like that where'd u find it

  • yes can be easily handled. same with any mantis. i even found the wide arm mantis (extremely aggresive species) can be handled but if they show a defense signal by putting their arms up like they are showing muscles with the dots showing toward you. just be patient and slow, you'll be fine

  • Can these be handeled?

  • part turtle part mantis the ultimate being

  • I concur????

  • so i take it they r really small?

  • small at first but quite big as adult

  • how big can they get?

  • adult females , about three inches maybe , not the biggest mantids

  • is it eating a flea or a fly?

  • fly

  • fly.

  • Spiny flower mantises are beautiful, and yours is a very nice specimen. Admittedly, I prefer the somewhat related, but much rarer Donny wahlbergii and Markymark wahlbergii mantises.

  • thats an awsome looking mantis, im looking at different ones for myself, i want something big, how big does this one get, and where can i find/get one?

  • They grow about 4cm, beautiful looking Mantids, great eaters. I've got one in my collection, little beaut.

  • any idea where i can get one? i've checked pets stores around this area, but do you have any web sites that i may check?

  • look at the Orchid Praying Mantis thats what i want it looks awsome

  • hard to keep, i'm told. they live off bees and butterflies. something to do with pollen nutrients. shame....

  • you can mostly only get them in UK so they are hard to ship LIVE and eggs i dont even ave a clue wat they would cost for rare mantids like these

  • its all good mate, like i told the last guy, i'll keep searching, but thanks anyways

  • I paod abot 30 pound for two flower mantid nymphs and a ghost nymph along with three converted sweet jars to keep them in (inc, p&p)

  • Agh, I want one

  • :) my favorite mantis, i always imagine them being 6 feet tall and like walking beside me and stuff, ahhh thatd be cool

  • it looks tiny, how big do they get?

  • ... she was IMAGINING it. They don't get that big at all.

  • That's not what she was implying and i'm a boy.

  • They are tiny. Adults only get to be about 2-2.5 inches.

  • hmm.. i thought they were 4 inches...

i used to have one and i do now too but its not as big as the one i used to have...

  • lol you wouldn't want that at all.. they would eat you!
