Triathlon motivation Half-ironman Borowno 2010

I really don't see how doing these events can motivate me. Registration often fills up within hours if not minutes. It's not like 10-15 years ago when these events seemed near impossible. Now, it seems everyone and their mother can do these races. What motivates me is doing something that hasn't been done.
