Threw this song on the ipod the other day and went running last night with it on repeat. Got about half way through the workout and couldn't keep the tears away.... Sounds very cliche or non - manly but I thought I'd share to show how powerful good music is.
i love you papa :) i love hearing the stories of when you were a child, i love seeing you smile when you talk about your parents and childhood. im so glad you are mine and i lovee you with all of my heart. i wish now was as good as it was back in the good 'ole days... </3
Very true song!!! I sang this the day I buried my Pop...the whole bar stood & applauded.... Made it alil easier <3 I Miss him so much! HE WAS THE BEST MAN I'VE EVER KNOWN!!! <3
my grandpa died november 2,2011 in front of me while i was holding him </3 i miss him so much he was like my dad!!!!!! this was played at his burial)': R.I.P. you will be truly missed! i love you!
im very lucky i knew both my grandads one past when i was 13 the other when i was 21 im now 47 and a grandad to 2 boys aged 3 months & 13 months my 2 grandads taught me to love and care for my grandchildren, thay were both ww2 vets so seeing all the blood shed and life lost i think is what made them want to do the right thing, im an old soldier and i done my bit all i know is im going to tell my gandsons about the good old days that sure were better than the messed up britain we live in today.
Sadly, I never knew my grandpas! Both died before I was born! My mom's dad and my dad's dad! I'm crying right now as I type this! :'( Anyway, I wish I could ask my grandpas this question...What happened to the good ol' days?
a wonderful song sung by 2 very talented ladies....makes me want to wander back into the past also...when my Pawpaw was still alive...RIP MM Ritter, who died when I was only 7 yo---I thought the world of you....in fact, still do...
My grandpa just passed away on the 10th, I miss him a lot this would play everytime I was over at my grandparents playing games with them <3 RIP Gramps<3
I am a grandpa now; and my little ones call my dad "old grandpa" He is 92 years old now and I am still trying to be the man he is; and was for all of us. I hope I am remembered like this.
almost 3 years ago, we held a big family reunion, I asked my aunt and her daughter to sing this to our grandpa, at that time, 89. they did, and 18 months later, that retired Kansas farmer, and ww2 vet. went to Heaven. I bless that day, and this song, and these 2 women who sang it....
Reminds me of sitting by the fireplace at my great-grandparents and listening to all the old stories.. Wish we could have that family connection now.. I miss it.
I wish my Grandpa could tell me about the good old days when he was younger. To bad he passed away a couple days before my 4th birthday:'( My grandpa that is still alive I barely have a connection with and it's sad. I miss my Grandpa soo much even though I barely knew him. I love him and I cry all the time about him. My dad always told me when there was a full moon my Grandpa was always looking down at me. To this day I still think that.I wish I could see you one more time just to say I love you
I know my grandpa never meant all the mean things he called me before he died because he held my hand apologized and told me he loved me on his deathbed when I was 12. I told him it was all alright and I loved him no matter what. And when my grandma died I told her to tell him I love him when she ran into him. R.I.P Grandma and Grandpa<3
this song makes me cry,it make me think of my papa,he died wen i was five and was there for me my whole life.i watched him have a heart attach, that night he died,i love him with all my heart and he was the one there for me when my brother died when i was 5.this song helps me to remember my love for him and how much i truely still love him.
@shadoe1975 You and I know...He meant what he said and he loved you so very much!!! You were his little Christopher Robin and it choked him up to hear Grandma sing the WInnie the Pooh song with you over the telephone. He is still with us now, little brother. I love you and you remind me of him.....more than you could realize.
I heard this song the morning after my grandpa passed away. I miss hearing the stories of the old days from him. But he's with his family in a better place. Can't wait to see all them again one day.
I cry every time I hear this song! This is one of my favorites! I have been so blessed to have been spoiled by my Grandpa Decker! These times are just so confusing and all. I just don't know what to do with my life at times. But, I still believe in Jesus Christ!
I miss my Grandpa he died from canser and now i dont have noo more Grandpa i can talk to or see to :( i lison to this song every day and i cry to it thinking of my Grandpa brown RIP my sweet kind alsome Grandpa i will ever have
I hear this song. And Im reminded of being a little boy visiting my grandpap sitting on his lap or just beside him,and all the good things he would tell me. And later in life, as I grew to be an older wise man, I hear sometimes, some of the very things we would say when the younger years were prevalent in my life.In the quite still voice in my mind..as days show themselves and events of life unfold! I sure do miss my grandpap...
@joe23ba my girl knows how to be treated, but not before I met her. Now she knows to be treated like a lady. And if anything should ever happen to me, she wont stand for any less. That's something I can be proud of.
I first heard this the first time not long after my "Paw" died, it still reduces me to tears!!! I used to sit on the front porch, him whittling something and telling me about how life was when he was growing up!!! I wish I could have recorded all the stories he told.
This song fits my mood right now. In the middle of the holidays, i've seen nothing but hate and sorrow and for someone with a big heart, its about all I can stand. Its so sad to see what the world is today. Can we really overcome our hate for one another? I'm afraid of the answer..
my grandpa died on April 4th, 2010. its been almost two years, they didnt play this at his funeral but still..everytime i hear this song, i still cry. i used to hear this a lot and when he was in the hospital, almost in a coma and didnt remember who anyone was, i sung this to him and he remembered me. this song will always have a special meaning to me.
This song makes me want to cry because my great grandfather used to tell me so many stories about "the old days" and i always loved learning about history. now he is gone. When he died my world came crashing down. So now when i'm down i sing this song to the sky hoping he will answer mee and tell me about the good ol' days. RIP gramps i love you
Awesome, Latino dudes were like "dude, she's not into you, get lost," then pushed that punk away as she lugs her groceries. Ughhh, what a hard life the 80's career woman had. Whew!
Don't read this because it actually works. You will get kissed on the nearest possible Friday by the love of your life. Tomorrow will be the best day of your life. If you do not post this comment on three videos you will die in two days. No, you've already started reading so don't stop. This is scary. Put this on five videos in the next 143 minutes. When you are done Press F6 and your lovers name will appear on your screen in big letters. This is scary cuz it actually works.
- My grandpall is right now in a hospice house & they don't except him to live at the most till friday, and this is mine & his song's...i rember when the power would go our , we would all sit in the living room and he owuld tell us abotu the good ole day;s..he alway's complain's about how the world is crzyyy, I love you papal <3
I miss u Grandpa its almost 5 year ago. He is wonderful grandpa I ever had He used to take me fishing and camping and watch my aunt ride the horse while she in Horse show. I always love u Grandpa I am wait to c u some day in with god house. (i am using my husband ID) opps
I miss my grandpa, i lost him not a year after my daugter was born, we now live in his house witch was my greatgrandpas house too, i can still feel them both with me, good men Godly men, loving, tough, and strong, not many like that these days. Rest in Peace Pop, and Granpa.I love you.
This one gets me all the time, makes me feel like I have a golf ball in my throat. My Family is really the type for values. Sometimes when Family members pass, it all goes wrong, like they were the glue that held us together. It all comes undone when they go, I wonder why? Miss you poppy, miss you dad, I still have my sister maggy and my Mother. I never want to lose them ever.....
I remember the good ol days, listening to my pawpaws stories of when he was a boy. Back then was much simpler times, not as much infaces on high life and more on what matters, family, friends and most of all Jesus Christ.
i just lost my Paw Paw (age 76) this past thursday and the mornig that i got the heartbreaking news of his passing, this song played over and over in my head. And it just fits him. Not too long ago he was telling us about when he was young they could go to the movies, get popcorn and a soda for just a NICKEL!!! can you imagine ?
I was my grandfathers were here to tell what to do with my friend Shawn Orlando becuase I would be lost with out him in my life and my grandfather would be the good listeners they would listen and give me good advice.
@buffyslayer30 Sorry for your pain however its wonderful that they did such a wonderful job raising you and how much you deeply love them, what a blessing <3
If these Kentucky girls would not have made so many false statements. They would be more active now.We Country folks are not to forgiving when you mislead us.
record exec.'s and publicity people have learned to spin their pet projects alittle better now.
@ASADAAAAAAMA They spun a story of being poor and living without in the hills of Kentucky and they sat as a family and played music to pass the time. They had no electricity and running water.Blah,Blah,Blah. The truth is Naomi was an R.N. divorcee who saw her daughters talent and beauty and cashed in. Not a wise move in the Country world. We are pretty serious about stories like this because so many country people have had real hardships. Great music. But moronic idea...lol
@wthjrtx1 The part about being poor, being on welfare, and not having electricity and water is completely true. Which is how of course Wynonna's talent was discovered, and of course her mom nurtured that.
@fpngan Look, I know your the uploader and love the Judds. I'm not going to dispute or debate it. Your right. Sorry. I'm wrong. Thanks for setting me straight.
I lost my granddad my 11th grade yr, he was my best friend and I miss him every day of every month, I always wonder if he would be proud of the way I turned out, how he would love my kids, I wish he was still here so he could tell me bout the good "ole" days, I miss and love you pawpaw more than words can say!
This songs more relevant now than ever. God when this song came out, they had no idea what crazy was. The world today has so much hate, pain and sorrow... We need a change but people aren't willing to do what it takes to change. People just need to slow down and be nice to one another again. Its really not too much to ask. I see people making poor waitresses and servers cry because they get one little detail wrong, is that really necessary? Thats someones child your treating like crap..
@bluefrog85 ---You're absolutely right. Humanity (myself included) has gotten too big for its britches. Its all about money and "what have you done for me lately". No one has time for each other anymore. Everything is all about me, me, me! The thing is, I don't know what can be done about this. When humanity is this self-centered, insecure, stupid and obsessed with the petty and trivial, it is only a matter of time before civil society collapses into savagery and barbarism. I hope I'm wrong.
@DestroyerofSouls666 think your right. But I think the best we can do is try to love and be kind to one another. Hate added to hate doesn't solve anything. If everyone stopped and truly tried to be nice to another, the world would be a better place. Its not hard and it doesn't cost you a thing. Look up a song Dolly Parton has on her new album, its called "You better get to livin". It talks about love, living, and forgiving. What we should all be striving for. =) Have a happy holiday! =)
@DestroyerofSouls666 Aww thank you. It means a lot. =) I do try to be a good person. Its hard to keep a positive outlook for me because there is so much bad in this world but somehow I find my center and reset and i'm ready to go again after each event I take place in. =) Sometimes its just really hard and it may be an odd motto and not the most positive but my motto is "it can always be worse." It truly can. Look at your problems and take a good look around at others, it CAN be worse. =)
Now if we just slowed down and listen and enjoy our grand parents knoweledge we could really enjoy them even more. I really do miss my grand parents on my dads side. My grandpa worked on the rail road. I enjoyed going with the conductor on the train. My best part was riding in the cobuse the was really great. Well heres to alll the grand parents something we usely for got to say We LOVE YOU and wish you all the true love yous deserve.
i love this song becuse it makes me me thake abaut my granpa you do not no how much i love my granpa he is old and we play arand with him becuse he is old but we dont mene it but we all love him we love him to deth
I Remember listening to this when Grandpa was still Alive. But I never talked to him about the good old days. What was I thinking? This is what happens when you take them for Granted. They are here on minute and gone the next.
I miss you Grandpa So much. I just can't belive I have gone this long without you. You and Uncle Donald were my world, and I am just so sad all the time. I miss you and Uncle Donald, but I know you both are having a great time in Heaven. Can't wait to see you both. You are the dad that Donald never had, which makes him my TRUE UNCLE. Love you Donald and Grandpa.
this song is so very true sad our world has gotten so selfish this song hits home for me cause i was raised when people stayed together until death do us part was for real
i've hard this song many times...I didnt have the privillege to know my Father's parents...I wish i knew how they were :) i wish i could have played with them as i played with my mother's parents...my grandmother on my father's side died when i was 2 years old, her husband died few years back but ALL I HAVE FROM THEM IS ONE PICTURE :( (he didnt want us to visit him, he disappeared when i was young and when we heard of his whereabouts it was too late!!! if you have them, LOVE THEM! ! ! !God Bless
Both my Grandparents were very kind too. I didn't find out until years later that my Grandpa Winters was in WWI. I miss them all too. I didn't really know my Grandmaw on my mother's side. My grandmaw on daddy's side was very kind. I used to go to sit beside her at church. After Church, we'd have donuts and snacks, I loved that part. She did wonderful crocheting of doilies. Best Wishes LittleCountryDJ
I was very close to my Papaw. He died in 1985 during the same year my parents divorced and everything seem to be bad for me at 16. This song came out not long after the death and divorce. I still cry when I hear this song. I love you papaw. All these years later you still live in my heart.
@lavondia100 If your looking for some other good ones, "when I get where i'm going" (dolly and brad paisley) and "daddys hands" (Holly Dunn) are really good too. I realize they won't have the same meaning as this one will for you but still, their very good. They played them both at my grandpas funeral a year ago.
Plese dont ruin this song by making ignorant comments. This song reminds me of so very many family members i lost while i was in the service. i will never get them back and these songs are all the memories i have of them.
This song reminds me when we didn't have to worry about government scams or global warming or internet safety of any of that. We DO need to lead simpler lives.
@MrReb74 , thats baloney, we are all from Africa, because we are white is because as we moved north,we got less sun, less vitamin D,so our bodys took the vitamin d from our skin! same as people who smoke, they don't get enough Oxygen, their body takes it from their skin, hence the wrinkles!! white peopl are no different then the Blackest man u ever seen! DNA TESTS 500,000 from all over the world have proved that!
I just plain miss em all...that whole WW 2 Generation.....they were something VERY special...learned to give back, lived through the worst that an economy has to offer, gave up to fight two three crazy bastards named Hitler, Mussolini and Hirohito....nothing but respect, admiration and just plain emptiness in my heart anymore for those folks....I miss them all...
i can never get enough of this song :) it reminds me of my koko i miss him so much :( he died when i was 2 years old and im like 14 now. even tho i never knew him i still feel apart of me is missing :( i miss him so much i wish he was here. i love you forever and ever koko :( i miss you xoxoxox
I never got to meet my one grandpa he died 5 years before I was born. My other grandpa was murdered by his wife when I was in 3rd grade. I didn't got alot of time with him. I had a stepgrandpa and he always treated me like I was one of his own. He treated my grandma like she deserved to be treated. He passed away in the late 90's and my grandma a few years later. Their stories and memories never fade they just get put on the page and turned to be read later on in life.. I miss them dearly.
58 people dislike this song. Not bad out of 2,000,000 plus. Still I don't understand what there is to dislike this song!

If these Kentucky girls would not have made so many false statements. They would be more active now.We Country folks are not to forgiving when you mislead us.
record exec.'s and publicity people have learned to spin their pet projects alittle better now.
What tha Hell? Such is life...

fpngan 2 months ago 4
@fpngan
Mommma Judd spun stories of the backwoods and no electricity and hard times for the family.
Which she was middle class and a practicing R.N.....That took alot of wind out of the sails.
You know the movie was supposed to reclaim and help thier word. It was just more Nashville stunt work.
But what tha hey. I'm a die hard pre Nashville sound and Outlaw lovin Southern fella. What do I know about it

ASADAAAAAAMA 4 weeks ago
@ASADAAAAAAMA They spun a story of being poor and living without in the hills of Kentucky and they sat as a family and played music to pass the time. They had no electricity and running water.Blah,Blah,Blah. The truth is Naomi was an R.N. divorcee who saw her daughters talent and beauty and cashed in. Not a wise move in the Country world. We are pretty serious about stories like this because so many country people have had real hardships. Great music. But moronic idea...lol
wthjrtx1 4 weeks ago
@wthjrtx1 The part about being poor, being on welfare, and not having electricity and water is completely true. Which is how of course Wynonna's talent was discovered, and of course her mom nurtured that.

Thats someones child your treating like crap..
bluefrog85 2 months ago
@bluefrog85 ---You're absolutely right. Humanity (myself included) has gotten too big for its britches. Its all about money and "what have you done for me lately". No one has time for each other anymore. Everything is all about me, me, me! The thing is, I don't know what can be done about this. When humanity is this self-centered, insecure, stupid and obsessed with the petty and trivial, it is only a matter of time before civil society collapses into savagery and barbarism. I hope I'm wrong.
DestroyerofSouls666 2 months ago
@DestroyerofSouls666 think your right. But I think the best we can do is try to love and be kind to one another. Hate added to hate doesn't solve anything. If everyone stopped and truly tried to be nice to another, the world would be a better place. Its not hard and it doesn't cost you a thing. Look up a song Dolly Parton has on her new album, its called "You better get to livin". It talks about love, living, and forgiving. What we should all be striving for. =) Have a happy holiday! =)

@bluefrog85 so true I agree with you so much on this.

The world needs more people like you. Never change, strong one. Never change....
DestroyerofSouls666 2 months ago
@DestroyerofSouls666 Aww thank you. It means a lot. =) I do try to be a good person. Its hard to keep a positive outlook for me because there is so much bad in this world but somehow I find my center and reset and i'm ready to go again after each event I take place in. =) Sometimes its just really hard and it may be an odd motto and not the most positive but my motto is "it can always be worse." It truly can. Look at your problems and take a good look around at others, it CAN be worse. =)

@bluefrog85 --but it also can be so much better. And it should be better.
Take it easy and live well, my friend.
