  • Try Cinema 4D :)

  • Thats AwESoMe!!!!!!

  • Could you superimpose live actors into your 3D environment so that it looked like they were actually standing in it?

  • so how to make it???

  • this looks like an unfinished family guy background...

  • You could make this into a Nintendo/Playstation Game.

  • Please apply Depth of Field Effect in camera and render again! :)

  • youtube.com/watch?v=dsp8zH0C7s8

    casa portuguesa animation

another good example for 3d city in after effects

  • you can make 3d structures on after effects???

  • hi

ur video is so cool keep going on

i work after effects but im still not good at it

i just want to ask you

can i mange layers in after effects like i do in video in photoshop?

    thank you

  • @sabgmc808 cheers! I haven't really worked with video in photoshop but as after effects is leyers based too I gues so

  • it wouldve been alot easier to do with 3DS Max.. so how long did this take you to do this?

  • @0nc a couple of days! You're right it would be easier using other software but I was just learning...

  • so cool!!! do you know where i can get a tutorial?

  • Very nice. Much props for creating this in After Effects!

    Thumbs up!

  • Good Job, Man!

  • 3D pseudo space - see AE project "Arena titles "

  • kind of silly

  • men pero si vas a aser algo aslo bien porke no nos muestras como lo isiste?¿?

  • IDEA - color KEY the buildings. Keep them in 3 colors , GREEN, BLUE, RED while keeping design the same. Each building is then selected say: you have 20 buildings 5, are GREEN 5 Blue the rest RED. Color Key the RED buildings and substitute the layer with a PSD ( say: BRICK, STEEL ) then work your way through the composition and RENDER. BAM !

  • sencillo pero esta bein

  • I think I know how you can do this !!

  • very cool!!

    just subscribed =)

  • Awsome!!! I subscribe!!!

  • damn this is awesome i hope i can make something lik dis 1 dayand i hav a question 4 evry1 reading this comment like how ur makin all these 3d stuff is it possible to make 3d character kinda lik a 3d show lik code lyko or get ed or sumthin lik tat??? plzz reply asap

  • not in after effects.

  • @bucasas sure it is!

  • can anyone help break this down for me, i am brand new at this and need some guidance!!!

  • It's basically a lot of flat images that have been boxed together to create rectangular prisms and cubes. Of course, more has been done than that and this is a great effect, but that's the gist of it. Basic shapes and geometry dude...

  • Great job! I've just started using AE and it is so involved. Lots of work.

  • cool vid

  • its all about how much u really to make something ..

  • omg im sure it took you a long time to stack all those up.

  • After Effects? Holy shit, man, I'd use 3D software.

  • LOL u are so hilarious.... creating 3D in AFter Effects isn't so hard.... just create the four walls by solids or using images and then pre-compose it...

  • I am new to the software, what is involved in pre-composing it? I have to do something similar using one layered .psd file

  • can you create a 3d object and move it around in after effects?

  • yes and u wont believe how easy it is :)

  • @vadersky94 you can't make a true 3d object in AE, but if you take a few layers and arrange them it's pretty simple to make something like this.

  • sketchedup

  • Nice gave me some ideas :P

  • great job, hope u aced that project xD

  • amazing!! i like this video

  • good job!

    what's the music btw

  • The epic music! It's killing me lol!

  • you do that in a 3d prog then import , or you used extruded effects , or layers ?

  • i guess he is using single layers composited together in after effect 3d space. no 3d programm required

  • very cool, good work!

  • beautiful

  • This guy could have done so much better if he would just watch Andrew Kramer from time to time and copy his work like everyone else...

  • LOL!

    Andrew Kramer does kick ass!

  • I seem to get the idea that some people are frying DogShelf for this piece of work! Anyway, he did it differently from Andrew Kramer and added the ability to whiz around the street level. Give him credit for that and off course Andrew for his wonderful tutorials!

  • this reminds me of ''sin city''.

  • no

Andrew got the idea from TNT and then he figured out how to do it from AE

  • if you get the result what you need it doesnt matter how you do it.

  • little bug at 00:21 left!

With after effects you can do animation but it takes longer to make i think!

  • I know After e. is a editing software, but is it a 3D software like 3d S. max?

  • yep, it can imitate a 3d scenary, but the program is for editing videos, not for modelling things like 3d max...

  • great work !

    but u should

make it 3ds max, its easier and faster,

  • Dude...its not like you can do better...

  • lol, that is so sad and hilarious. Afraid of failure? lol

  • LOL

  • Like your style!

  • There's every point in doing this; after effects is an industry standard application for creating graphics, animation and titles for TV and broadcast and there are a million and one AE features that make it far more desirable to a broadcast client, and that are tailor made for creating broadcast quality animation and effects quickly and at low cost. Just because you can do certain things easier in one software package doesn't mean you shouldn't explore possibilities with other packages :-)

  • so the point your making is, Lots of people use it and like it. that's why its good to bend it around into areas where its so hard to use, instead of using a real 3d program.

I like the experimental part of it, But I'm merely pointing out that this is more easily accomplished in a 3d package

  • ever heard of bert monroy? hes created serveral massive photorealistic landscapes in photoshop, most people cannot tell the diffrence between that and a photo, he could have done the same thing in a 3d program but he did it in photoshop, because he could.

  • this must have took forever to render

  • sorry but not worth the effort doing this in AE, there's no point using it for this kind of stuff

  • 2 words

    Fucking crack!

    nice style!

  • nice work. is there any specific tutorials i can look at?

  • Whats the song?

  • why would you go through all this trouble if you could it in any 3d package within half a day

  • Comment removed

  • woooow looks realy cool... do u know a tuturial to make this in aftereffects or in premiere?

  • there probably won't be one, as the above post says it's probably best to do this kind of stuff using 3D software.

  • @DogShelf There is a tutorial, i believe by andrew kramer. If not then i could be wrong. But i have a tutorial on my other pc for this, i can send it to who ever wants it. Its pretty cool to do.

  • @grafititurtle Check out a site called Video Copilot dot net. (cant type out the url, youtube blocks it) he's got a really elaborate 3D city tutorial

  • Yes, people, you could do this in a 3D program, but it won't have the same "feel"to it. I think this looks great!

  • I could do this is a week with a 3D program. Probably less.

  • can make a tut

  • its so dramatic

  • wow just do it in a 3d program

  • Like it! I think i know how you did it. Propz!

  • Where did u get these layers? This is truly a beautiful work of art.

  • hey, looks really nice, wanted to do something similiar, but the whole lot of layers annoyed me. do you know (in the meanwhile) if its possible to group all 5 layers for on building? tried it with a comp, but will then be handled as 2d image when i drag it into another comp.

    jst curious :)

keep up the good work anyway!

  • hey, thanks, glad you enjoyed. It's a while since I did this to be honest but don't think there'es a way of grouping 3D layers in a composition then embedding them within another without them going 2D. The project I did after this was an even bigger city and had over 250 layers by the time I'd finished, so wish I knew the answer lol!

  • i just found it :)

comp all layers, put it in the mastercomp and check the second layerswitch from the left (looks like a sun or something) then it keeps the 3d-information <3

  • just tried it - ace! what do I know lol

would have made the whole thing a lot easier1 Thanks! :) Feel free to post a video response with any cool stuff u do...

  • the sun icon can do that?!? oh shoot!

    thanks for the info!

  • ops...sorry...you not understand italian...and i understand so so english :D...

  • AUTOCAD ???????? REEL????

  • very well done :)

  • cute. Probably would have saved yourself 5 hours of workflow by doing it in a 3D ap but at least it's original

  • very good idea.. i think i may use it later :P

  • LOL, I knew something like this would work, I had thought of a similar experiment in AE for creating a world made of simple objects. 5 planes = one building. Congrats! Too bad I didn't have the will power to get around to creating it. But yes Maya is much much simpler, ahh only once you get past the intense UI

  • fazia um aviaum bateno nesses predios ai

  • Wow! must have taken a long time to build that city in AE.

  • hey wow great job, i was wondering if you had to do any tracking or sumthin to keep all the different wall layers in the same position when moving the camera around...or did it have no effect on it?

    once again, nice job!

  • cheers! all the layers are parented to the base 'floor' layer so won't move. the only thing moving is the camera, which isn't parented to anything. There were no effects on it, just loads of layers positined in 3D space!

  • lol that must have been an incredible pain "texturing" if the word's even applicable here. I commend you on your patience putting this together

  • any tutorials out there that show you how to make sush a thing?

  • not that I know of... I just did this as a practise really. To be honest using after effects isn't the best way of creating ths kind of effect...if you can get your hands on Maya or something similar try that. But in after effects I basically rotated flat 'wall' layers on the x, y and z axis and positioned them to create buildings and added a camera to fly between them.

  • thanx for the reply.

I myself use 3dsmax but I still have to figure out how to use the camera's.

    I'll guess I'll do that.

    Anyway, great video. me like

  • fuuck me, you sure have spent some time on matching up the layers :P

  • oh yes..!

  • did you do this entirely in after effects

  • yes, entirely in after effects (and then edited in Final Cut Pro)

  • well done dude thats well nice

  • cheers! :)

  • very good!

  • Thats cool!

  • this is how they make the fake 911 videos :).

  • plese make a tutorials lol!

  • Really good work!

  • holy ****!!!!111

    Thats awesome

  • 2 fun

  • amazing ,,, simple technique ,, yet dramatic ,, maybe some environment lighting and some climate sould be nice

  • Smart ar$e! :)

  • Excellent!
