Wanna say THANK YOU. Can't believe find this in Youtube. This concert was part of my first solo travel in Europe. My first concert, first train-ride, first over night at a monastery, first 1 person three-course-dinner......Along with the music, memory comes alive.
I was there. One of the best live show I ever seen.
Still remember last song by Thom solo. Seemed like he did not want to finish the show... and still remember outside the Arena Thom greetings the fans from his car.
Austin... Thanks again for all the great work, but I think you already have enough of Radiohead. You seem to be desperately looking for more radiohead videos if you're uploading average audience shots like this, with 99% of the songs already uploaded in better quality.
Radiohead are great but there are so many amazing bands out there without a single full concert uploaded! I ask you to please consider uploading videos of more bands, whoever you like. We need them much more than more RH videos.
Sorry, respond will have to come in three parts I fear:
I disagree. Sure, the video is far from remarkable, but as long as the audio quality is decent, I very much prefer full length concerts to searching YouTube for 3 minute clips people taped with their mobiles (although I enjoy those clips quite a bit occasionally).
If anyone should be willing and able to put all the best 1-song-shots together into a proper concert (to the audio we already have), ...
...that would be just incredible of course - but considering the workload I would also be inclined to doubt that person's sanity.
And while I have to agree that it's a shame that channels like Austin's don't seem to exist for other bands, I'd rather have someone else with a director's account upload other bands' stuff, because a) it's incredibly convenient that someone dedicates a lot of time to catering to my current Radiohead phase exclusively (as I said earlier: I love you, Austin ;)...
...and b) the thought of losing this account because some other band or their management makes copyright claims is not a very pleasant one. Then again I'm probably unnecessarily scared, because surely a Radiohead fan's other favourite bands are unlikely to be pricks about something like that...oh well...
I absolutely appreciate everything austin did, he might be my favorite youtube user. I'll just repeat what you said - "it's a shame that channels like Austin's don't seem to exist for other bands". That's exactly my point. And I think that Austin has the ability to change that, and to do to fans of other bands what he did to radiohead fans... no one else seems to do it
Yes, I absolutely get that. But I just can't believe Austin's the only music fan with a director's account out there, and instead of him doing all the heavy lifting, I'd rather see someone else inspired to do the same for another band (preferably one I like ;). As I said, I quite like the prospect of a new full length Radiohead show once in a while - even if the video quality is doubtful...
But of curse that's entirely up to the man himself anyway; and if he should ever decide to upload other stuff I happen to like, obviously I'm not going to refuse to watch ;)
I actually asked Austin to find this for me. I was at this concert, and it blows my mind that i can see this concert in it's entirety so many years after the fact!! So serious kudos to Austin for putting up so many full Radiohead shows!! Thanks mate!
Nothing wrong with dedication to a band.. There are plenty of Radiohead fans who appreciate every show Austin has put up. There's nothing stopping anyone else who is a dedicated fan of any other band from doing the same thing.
The grinning caused by that unexpected and charmingly weird introduction to Talk Show Host left me unable to sing along for the first 30 seconds or so, and I *always* sing along to that song. So thanks for ruining it for me, Thom! ;D
(Might be a little sleep deprived and thus easily amused, I must admit though.)
I sure hope you feel our love, Austin - conditional as it may be... ;)
