In regard to romantic love or any other kind of emotional pain, whilst it can be a wonderful thing to have someone special to share your life with, when it comes down to it the only person who can save you from your pain & suffering is yourself. No-one else can do that for you. You have to have the strength of will to carry on, regardless of whatever life throws at you even though there may be times when you think you'll never come through it.

Yes, they are very true words & of course I was talking about life & the very tough times we sometimes have to face emotionally & not just in respect to romantic love but to all forms of emotional pain & anguish.

I do appreciate the sentiment behind this poem & of it being about the love of a guardian angel. It reminds me very much of the christian poem 'Footprints', when in times of trouble you may think you're completely alone but that you're not because Jesus is always with you.
