I love classical music and used to listen to Vivaldi, Bach, Telemann, etc. all the time as a child. Now I compose music that echoes those same styles and I am so appreciative of past composers. All the effort, sacrifice, and time they spent creating something that touches the heart and needs no words to be understood... is there any greater joy?!
Bach made the theory, Beethovan created intensity, Vivaldi created the life, Hovannas created mystery, Telemann created love; all in their music. Must I go on?
@violistbyheart , excuse me, by saying Hovannas, are you refering to Alan Hovhaness?, Armenian composer?... Please keep adding great classical artists, I never heard about Telemann. Right now I have started to learn more about him...
@7alejo728 Yes, I do mean Alan Hovhaness. I didn't mean to make that unclear:P Telemann is amazing, my orchestra plays a lot of his pieces. Uhm some other composers that I love, just off the top of my head would be: Holst (I don't remember if I included him in the last post), Bizet, Mussorgsky, Edward Elgar, Handel, Mendelsonn (Not sure if I spelled that correctly), Chopin, Paganini, Brahms, Tchaikovsky, Ron Nelson, and Steven Nelson (Youtube username: Pianoguys: he's AMAZING)
@violistbyheart Thanks a lot. I wil start listening to them. Hoo you are in a orchestra, that´s great. I have started some personal studies about classical music. As a logical and first step I have started to listen as most composers as I can, from different ages and periods. Thanks a lot
I do not see why people see the need to compare the minds of Vivaldi and Bach. They had different styles, but that is what makes them as amazing as they are. Both ways of composing are to be admired simply because both are original and unique, which are often regarded as the main qualities that define art.
The reason people prefer Vivaldi over Bach is mainly because of the simpler harmonies and that rhythmic drive inherent in Italian music. Bach did not compose intelligent music for theory's sake... it was all for the sake of pure art. It is much more difficult to understand his genius. To me, he is a far greater composer than Vivaldi in every way, especially in the meticulous details of musical lines and diversity (some say Vivaldi's hundreds of concertos are in reality variations of a couple).
I have to agree with you here. You have very valid reasons and opinions and you have helped me to understand them even more. I have to say unfortunately that I still like Vivaldi more. This piece does sound like it was composed by Bach though. My fave Baroque composer is Telemann though. What nationality was Telemann though?
@Tgedz98 Telemann was German and knew Bach personally (C.P.E. Bach's godfather). To me this piece clearly has the "vivaldi stamp" on it. You should listen to Bach's transcription of this piece for organ. Bach studied Vivaldi for his dramatic openings and concerto schemes... which developed well with his ingenious talent for elaborating ideas.
So tired people thinking that they'r "intellectual" simply for listening to classical music. Anyone can listen to music, please get off your high-horse and enjoy the music for it's beauty not for the false boost it gives your ego.
Umm, that is relevant to this video... I guess? After all, this video is about the pseudo intellectualism of those who listen to classical music. Oh wait, no it isn't.
@heyassmanx Smart people tend to favor music with more complex melodies and less predictability. But yes the revolting attitude of rich snobs from older generations tends to shy a lot of other people away from this beautiful music. The sad thing is, most of the composers were revolutionaries and despised (at least partially) the monarchies of Victorian Europe. It's a shame that their music is only listened to by the modern-day equivalent of those tyrants. But Metal Heads like it. :)
@heyassmanx some people can't even play this sort of music but still they think they are it when they listen to it...i dare some of them to play the notes, difficult stuff and then you appreciate it in a very different way
I'm sorry that not everyone who listens to the works of vivaldi and other great composers does not buy into the whole NWO/New age bullshit you do. Intelligence is by far the most valuable trait a human being can have.

@icecreamcandygirl I'm extremely sure that in this case @wakeboarder199 was using "shit" as a synonym for "thing" or "stuff", not implying that the music was bad.
Lol you are a fool. I love classical music. I was merely describing what I thought on this piece of magic. How naive and dumb of you to think I was dismissing it as some sort of nefarious gesture of work. Tisk Tisk.

i just like vivaldi more than bach in baroque compositions for violin, bach developed very good this gender but vivaldi's music is simple compositions and extremely beautiful

@ExtremeBogom Gotcha. I think the same way. I go to an arts school here in Canada, and our class is playing this piece. I really like playing Baroque music in general, although Vivaldi can get somewhat boring for a cellist, with really tedious sections here and there. All in all though, he's a great composer.
@ShadowPredator31 Not at all. I'm a classically trained violinist, but then I found some metal bands to be to my liking. I can see, in some of them, the patterns and musical subtleties from classical music to modern metal.
@ShadowPredator31 there's a lot of metal heads that like classical... hope you realized music like this piece for example; if it was modernized it WOULD be of the metal genre.. you can just hear it!
@dracublah No you're incorrect i'm sorry. No metal band could ever come close to composing such a piece ... and by the way it's not classical it's baroque. When you say "if it was modernized" do you mean by adding a bunch of yelling , obscene noises and distorted guitars ?
@moose1ale Don't judge something you don't really know anything about. I appreciate and recognize the talent in Both Classical ( or baroque if we are going to get genre specific) and Metal. If you want to go pick on a real talentless loser, go spam justin beiber, who has people make his music for him. Pop is the real musical travesty here.
@ThnksFrThMmrs1500 there might be some similarities in baroque/classical and metal but i assure you it's like comparing a tank and a mercedese. They're both vehicles that can get you from point A to point B. These we're composed for different purposed\s and the composer we're influenced by other things then drugs, alcohol and other dark obscene bullshit. tell me how many metal ..i'd call them artists but god knows they aren't,,,, compose any metal song blind or deaf?
@ThnksFrThMmrs1500 religion and the crown we're 2 great influences of baroque , metal is completely opposite , they ramble on about satan and anarchy. Something else to think about , How often do you hear singing or voices in baroque? Not very often ...
@moose1ale so you're saying that all metal is about satan? i know several bands that would disagree with you, and that actually have good christian values in their music. Just because it is metal, doesn't make it satanic. I've heard clean beautiful music with worse morals than a lot of metal. Don't judge something you don't know. and the Boston tea party was an act of anarchy and revolution, so does that make it bad too?
@MetalAnonym0us metal and baroque (not classical) are entirely different things. To compare such a piece to "metal" is insulting and barbarous. I ensure you ... there's a night and day difference. I'm not trying to act like a know it all , sorry if i'm giving out the impression that i am. Metal ... I'm still trying to figure out how it's classified as music. I've yet to see real talent in metal. Sorry this is just my opinion , do not take anything personally.
@moose1ale I appreciate classical and metal music. And i'm versed in metal, soi can ASSURE you, there is talent in it. Contrary to popular belief, the vocal stylings of metal are VERY complicated, requires technique and time to master. It just sounds like a mush of sounds because you aren't familiarized with it. as far asguitar and drums, there is a WEALTH of talent. I can't even begin to describe the skill required to play the crazy death metal solos, and even the rhythm guitar as well.
@ThnksFrThMmrs1500 sorry , you can argue all you want but the fact remains. This music has been around for centuries. It has been most popular with the bourgeoisie back in the day. People spend their whole lives trying to attain the perfection of these pieces. one you've heard one or two metal songs you've heard them all. They sound terrible. The only few half metal bands were in the 70's and 80's era. the new metal songs today will be forgotten in the next few years....
i'm playing this for my orchestra (1st solo violin ) and i can't wait!! i've been playing this on my own forever i already have it memorized!!! lol, the red priest is amazing. best composer I feel; J.S Bach with a close second!
while I listen to Vivaldi from youtube… from the window of my small country in Italy I see the three ancient churches, two bell towers a aristocrat palace of the 700, if I even show oneself I see to you to play in Vivaldi public square! … all this is wonderful
@67grevale It must be nice to live in such an old and historical country like Italy. Canada's OK but I can't look down the street and see buildings that were there 500+ years ago. Enjoy!
The wind was human for just one life...the wind forming the skies, the wind...it was acting in flesh trying to express his eternal timeless feelings for one life between them..."the humans down there, below,so below there, them, walking"
Vivaldi is our music from the past, but our wind from the present
I love Vivaldi but a lot of times even though all his compositions are beautiful I find that I don't want to play or listen to them cause they are to aggressive, and I can't play them with conviction or properly enjoy them unless I'm angry. (except for some of his happier pieces which there are few of)
@2233Ree Hi, Friend. I like very much your comment. I am a practitioner of taoist internal arts. We study that strength and anger come from the same source: liver. When this organ (organic and energetic one) work in harmony, liver generates strength to do whathever you have to do and a feeling of being strong. When liver is in disorder (almost all people in world have this problem), it generates anger as emotion. I suppose Vivaldi could experience the feeling of strength and so he created
While listening to this concerto I feel that my heart is dancing, It transcendes se many emotions that I can't handle it.

They're both vehicles that can get you from point A to point B. These we're composed for different purposed\s and the composer we're influenced by other things then drugs, alcohol and other dark obscene bullshit. tell me how many metal ..i'd call them artists but god knows they aren't,,,, compose any metal song blind or deaf?
moose1ale 3 months ago
@ThnksFrThMmrs1500 religion and the crown we're 2 great influences of baroque , metal is completely opposite , they ramble on about satan and anarchy. Something else to think about , How often do you hear singing or voices in baroque? Not very often ...
moose1ale 3 months ago
@moose1ale so you're saying that all metal is about satan? i know several bands that would disagree with you, and that actually have good christian values in their music. Just because it is metal, doesn't make it satanic. I've heard clean beautiful music with worse morals than a lot of metal. Don't judge something you don't know. and the Boston tea party was an act of anarchy and revolution, so does that make it bad too?
ThnksFrThMmrs1500 3 months ago
@ShadowPredator31 Nope. A lot of metalheads enjoy classical music, as their melodies are very similar.
MetalAnonym0us 4 months ago 2

ThnksFrThMmrs1500 3 months ago
@ThnksFrThMmrs1500 sorry , you can argue all you want but the fact remains. This music has been around for centuries. It has been most popular with the bourgeoisie back in the day. People spend their whole lives trying to attain the perfection of these pieces. one you've heard one or two metal songs you've heard them all. They sound terrible. The only few half metal bands were in the 70's and 80's era. the new metal songs today will be forgotten in the next few years....

while I listen to Vivaldi from youtube… from the window of my small country in Italy I see the three ancient churches, two bell towers a aristocrat palace of the 700, if I even show oneself I see to you to play in Vivaldi public square!

Vivaldi is our music from the past, but our wind from the present
forming clouds and feelings as clouds

@solo12359 no such thing as higher pleasures, so stop making stupid comments about the dislikes.
if you don't agree, then maybe you aren't as intellectual as you think you are, because spamming in the comments section isn't very sophisticated.
Thumbs up if you agree (just kidding)

I love Vivaldi but a lot of times even though all his compositions are beautiful I find that I don't want to play or listen to them cause they are to aggressive, and I can't play them with conviction or properly enjoy them unless I'm angry. (except for some of his happier pieces which there are few of)
2233Ree 7 months ago
@2233Ree Hi, Friend. I like very much your comment. I am a practitioner of taoist internal arts. We study that strength and anger come from the same source: liver. When this organ (organic and energetic one) work in harmony, liver generates strength to do whathever you have to do and a feeling of being strong. When liver is in disorder (almost all people in world have this problem), it generates anger as emotion. I suppose Vivaldi could experience the feeling of strength and so he created
