2007 Nissan Titan engine knocking noise

Have had 2 fords that developed the same knock. An 04 f150 with the 5.4 4x4 and a 06 5.4 4x4. They both sound that way and I've had both since they were new

that noise is your valves knocking, that usually happends when your vechicle has alot of miles, all vehicles do that after 60-70,000 miles. my friends toyota tundra does that too but worse! also i had a honda accord and it also did that after 50,000 miles, my nissan titan has over 100,000 and it doesnt knock yet

i got the same problem too, they are suspecting valve lifter, but power is still the same nothing has change except that annoying sound..

My 2007 had the knock, I'm hoping my 2011 doesn't develop it. I did run 0-40w mobil 1 and it seemed to help in the 07.

i have a 04 titan with 47k on it the manifolds were just replaced and new cats. dealer told me rod knock. if your oil is black and goes black or dark right after changing it. bad bad news time for a new motor i just called nissan today and im putting a new motor in mine today 9000 bucks. ooch good luck

Nissan titans have a common problem with their exhaust manifolds cracking it causes a sound that is similiar to a lifters ticking or a rod knocking!!! Also they have a very small oil filter so i would recommend changing every 1000 miles cause they clog fast after the engine has some wear on it!!

My 2005 model is making this exact noise, sounds lower than the pistons, inspected the pistons with a camera and one has a little pit on it but don't think this is enough to cause knocking, pretty sure it's gonna be a full engine strip, anyone ever removed the engine on a Titan?

i have a 04 and use "mobil 1 5w30 truck and suv" is that good, it runs perfect, i do oil change every 2500 miles. love my titan.

are you using synthetic mobil 1? it's sounds a little loud for normal valve train noise but i know that my engine knocks when i use mobil 1 synthetic...next time, i'll try valvoline synthetic.

Exhaust Manifold Cracked... Mine did on both sides.

Yeah Mine made a similar noise. More noticable when listening underneath the truck then from the top of the engine block. Scared it was a knock. Took to the Nissan dealer and they called Nissan Tech Line. They have a documented case with the exhaust manifold. It's been redesigned in the 2007's and they said it leaks and to allow for a little noise. I'm kinda pissed but as long as the truck is fine then i'm not as concerned. Mine's not that loud.

Ouch I have an 07 that i run into the ground and it is still going strong. Good thing it is still under warrenty.
