  • Stained Glass--Bob Rominger, Jim McPhearson and Denny Carrasco. Tom Bryant later replaced Rominger on guitar and Lance Libby brought in keyboards (Christian Rapid). I don't get the S.G./Orphan Egg/George Brix connection here. Never saw that. If this was a Brix tune then where were Bates, Monley and Smith on the recording? Label sez Stained Glass/Phil Stompo (???). In any event this recording was real stompo compared to their much better live repertoire from the time.

  • George Brix wrote the song, eh? He also wrote the Star Spangled Banner, and Love me Do, and Fiddler on the Roof.

    Maybe not.

Maybe what really happened was that Jim McPherson wrote the song, and the three of us in the Stained Glass recorded it at Capitol Records. Great song,.... and it had my song "Soap and Turkey on a Pyramid" on the back -- the only song I sang a lead on, on that first album.

  • George Brix ! wrote this song ,dums, Bass ! George Brix !

  • One of my song's. face book ! George Brix

  • Jim McPherson wrote this song (words and music), sang lead on it, and played bass. The other two Stained Glass guys (Den Carasca and Rominger (can't remember first name)) did the rest of the parts. I was hanging out with them in San Jose in '68 or '69 when Lady in Lace was put together. I don't understand all these comments about lawsuits, Brix, black attorneys, and shit like that. How can there be any question about who did what when? It is public record. This is a strange world.

  • George Brix /Writer/Bass and drums

  • Love these guys ! Bought some great Lingerie at this store !

  • Stained Glass were very good friends of mine at the time of this recording. They were a great band from San Jose Ca.

  • the lawsuit should be coming from the beatles for the michelle turn around hook that this song is ripping off.

  • Love this song ! Who ever wrote really is no big deal ! let the song live on

  • I was there when Jim McPherson wrote this song over just a couple of days in '68 or so while he was working on several others. All three of us (McPherson, Carrasco, and Rominger) helped arrange the thing, and we all sang on it.

  • McPherson wrote the song.

  • OK ! No reason to fight !!!! Jim's friends, etc !! I have no reason to Dis Respect him ! God Bless....!!! Im glad the song has lived on ! NEVER FORGET, STAINED GLASS LADY IN LACE is a great song ! I was just so tired of studio work I have done, George Brix ! Love !

  • Dear sunshinetunes67 , I truly appreciate the fact you spoke about this forum be one of education and enjoyment , As a 40 year friend to all Stained Glass band members , I was just surprised to see someone taking credit for a song , that is very easy to check ., the reason someone would , I don't care , seems to be common after this many years . I enjoy all the old music you post , and you are correct , no malicious intent here . Jim's widow owns the rights to the later music he wrote , and I

  • You are right , but sadly people are making money off these old songs , by remarketing and releases , we have seen these in England , and everywhere around the world , And you have my ip address, and you know where I am ? Is that a threat ? sounds like it ,, I have known George Brix many years , and if you knowthese things , you probably know who I am ,,, Its all about the truth for me , and for Jims widow who just released Jims previously unrecorded songs ... A lawsuit for what attorney black?

  • I have your IP, so I do know where you are ! attorneyblack !

  • If you would like a Law suit ! Let's do that ! Let's face it....there is no money in this song ! George Brix / orphan egg/ There is no need to fight abought a song that went nowhere !!!! Attorneyblack@yahoo.com PS. I will go after you for any other remarks ! Thank you !

  • @attorneyblack PLEASE TAKE A TIMEOUT . THERE IS NOTHING VINDICTIVE OR MALICIOUS IN WHAT THESMARTFOLKS SAYS. THIS IS NOT THE FORUM TO MAKE THREATS . I PUT THIS ON FOR THE ENJOYMENT OF THOSE WHO MISSED OUT ON THIS GEM. THIS SOUNDS LIKE YOUR BACK IN THE SCHOOLYARD DESPITE THE FACT YOU MAY BE RIGHT. PLEASE DON'T RESORT TO TACTICS THAT ARE NOT REALLY WORTH IT.

  • @attorneyblack You are a strange fellow. I just can't understand why some folks are making up stories about who wrote this stuff, and recorded it. Two of the original band members survive, and can relate exaclty what happened. There are still lots of folks around the recording industry that worked at Captiol and RCA back when we recorded these songs in their studios. Anyway, the fact remains, Jim McPherson wrote this song, and he, Dennis Carrasco and I recorded it at Capitol in the late 60s

  • BMi checked ASCAP reflects Jim McPherson , words and music

  • George Brix Did write this Song ! Check BMI and ASCAP !!!!

  • This song was not written by George Brix, or Attorney Black , as listed above. It was written by Jim McPherson, as were all the songs done by Stained Glass ..##3 albums Jim passed in 1985, but prior co-wrote the song Jane, for the starship ... There is an album just released called "A Promise Kept", that includes Jim"s previously unreleased songs ... He was also in Copperhead , with John Cippolina...... Purchase this new album at cd baby or itunes...

  • Great song for my store ! geo !!!

  • Good old song I I did all the music and word,s

  • This was the A side, released just after the group left RCA. The B side was "Soap and Turkey" written by Bob Rominger. It had riffs in it played by plucking the strings of an autoharp one after the other, with the strings tuned to play the specific riff.

  • Brix/Orphan Egg/brix.George brix ,brixbrix,brix,george brix//Lingerie, brix.george Brix Grear store.george brix. Brix.brix .Orphan egg .orphan egg.egg.egg.Orphan egg .orphann egg .george brix.brix gbrix.brix george

  • Great George Brix Song !

  • attorneyblack@yahoo.com George Brix was doing some great songs back then ! Now Sony owns him ! What a shame

  • A great baroque minor-key shuffle. Reminds me a little of the theme from "Nanny & The Professor." I could easily picture the Monkees doing this with Davy singing lead.

  • Great stuff!Beatlesesque for sure

  • Great San Jose Band [ San Fransisco Bay ] This song was also used as a Jingle for a Lingerie Store in Campbell,ca, Lady in Lace,One of three stores from George Brix, Drummer and writer in The Band ,Orphan Egg !

  • Looks like a Canadian pressing
