i used chunky peanut butter hope thats ok. & covered it with unsalted sunflower seeds. the birds found it fast, less than a minute it seemed like!

Foe children with peanut allergies: You can still make the pinecone bird feeders but use lard, honey or soynut as an alternative to peanut butter. Honey can be extremely messy but that's part of the fun.
