i like portishead (not as much as goldfrapp) and i can see the comparison because of the whole 'spy movie soundtrack' thing but they sound TOTALLY different!! you wouldnt hear a goldfrapp song from felt mountain and mistake it for a portishead song...i have never heard a portishead song that sounds like utopia, deer stop, oompa radar, pilots etc... the closest thing i can think of is probably the whole glory box/lovely head/human bond theme sound but they still sound totally different...
