  • And now we can go hit that Deathstar !

  • I just read a report at the NTSB website of a crash at my airport of a Quickey Q2, the pilot threw a bag of sand in the back because the CG was too forward. He still had problems with not being able to flare. He then flew over an hour to burn the fuel, tried to land again, he still had a nose-down pitch attitude at landing, ran off the runway and all. He was okay but that thing doesn't even look safe.

  • @crazyassmofoz This is good that pilot is ok, I would sugest him to fix a small and light parachute somewhere behind the seat.

  • Are you the guy that published finleyweb? I took great interest in that plane and particularly the motor work that was done on it. Then last year there were no more posts in the log. If it is you are you still flying the thing?

  • @gpotteiger No that is Jon. BTW this plane just came up for sale. See him

  • @docrw his website seems to be down? I don't know what happened to it. It's a shame cause it was really a good reference for a successful auto conversion with a lot of time on it. I am not really in a position to buy a plane but he was a good example for how intuition and work can be a substitute for a lot of money.

  • A friend is putting a 0-200 in his. What's on the belly? A radiator? This plane is to fast to meet LSA requirements although weight probably is ok

  • that would be freeky but i am use to gliders

  • Stupid reappearing ad in the center of the clip.

  • I wonder if this is LSA compliant?

  • Nope, how could it be?

  • Homebuilt experimental?

  • @rangerjames73 too fast!

  • Just beautiful to watch this thing fly. Looks very stable and responsive. How is the leg and head room. I am 6ft 4" 230 LBS. I might need a small diet

  • It would be way to tight for you, though I know of others your size with them with modification.

  • Received my plans today. Wonder if it is possible to have a cruise of 210 - 220 ?

  • You're gonna probably need a 0-235 that is very light. Keep the thing as light as possible and don't change a bunch of stuff, built it to plans.

  • Yes, to the plans ! What is the approximate weight and HP on that 0-235 ? I am considering a rotary.

  • rotary is to heavy and you can't use the power.

  • HMMM, OK

  • Would be great to see a 4 place version.

  • Yes, but CG would be a big problem to handle for different loads.

  • who came up with that design?

  • Burt Rutan came up with the Quickie 1 and then some guys made a two place version of it and said we're going to produce it if you don't, so Quickie Aircraft started making them and they sold like hot cakes. More sold then finished, since it's a lot of work to make one. Great plane.

  • yea only he can come up with such a design. any major advantages?

  • Many! It's super efficient since all surfaces lift unlike the tail on a conventional airplane, very low front plate area (drag), very light and will pick up more than the entire airframe in pay load. I know of no other plane that can do all of these things.

  • very cool video and I like the sound effects. We have one of these planes at our airport and it's fast...

  • It's powered by a Subaru 2.2 and faster then a Legacy wagon....

  • My flight instructor was telling me it does 180 knots on 3 gallons an hour... wow.

  • 180 mph with 75 hp VW Revmaster 4 gph, or 200 mph with 100 hp Continetal at 6 gph. Probably the same with the EJ22 subaru

  • that is one... unique plane
