  • Originally released in April 1940. Sadly, this is a black and white print (and this does look impressive in Technicolor).

  • This is actually very well animated. Art Davis is a really good animator. What year was this made? If I had to guess, I'd say 1943, but the copyright date looks like 1941, but it's too hard to read. Even though the title says "color rhapsody in technicolor", it was probably originally in black and white, because b & w is so much cheaper. This strikes me as a wartime cartoon, where most filmmakers were only allowed b & w due to war expenses.

  • Sounds like Gil Warren as the announcer.

  • Originally released in April 1940, and one of the funnier "Color Rhapsodies" in the series [the Tex Avery "spot gag" influence from Schlesinger/ Warner Bros. was evident- especially the gag at 4:57... a similar one was used in Avery's "Screwball Football" (1939)]. Unfortunately, this is a black and white print; it looks better in Technicolor.

  • The idling airplane sound was later used in the Disney/RKO cartoons.
