All the biggest mails, supermarkets, or car dealers are outside Paris city proper. All Parisians knows this. Even inside the city in itself, there are tons of unknow and hidden places top visit, particularly in eastern parts. Paris city area is almost 12 million people.

It's why when i see near the Moulin Rouge or Eiffel tower, all these tourists bus full of British and US pathetic visitors, i smile and pity them.

Most of tourist flocks never go in the real Paris, where the real people of Paris lives. They tour only the most touristic spots. And Paris in itself, the historical city, is a very littlle part of Paris metropolitan area, which is huge. Entires parts are African, Arab or Asiatic territories. Very multicultural.
