The '77 Cadets closed with 'I Don't Know How To Love Him' from Jesus Christ Superstar, and the program ended with a sung 'Amen' before a sop solo. At Finals in Denver, they were ticked a full point because the rules at the time stated that no one except the DM could vocalize during a performance. That tick dropped them to 12th.

That's it. Nothing sinister, nothing atheistic, nothing to do with a pre-performance prayer.

@PogoPantheon As far as I know, at competitions you are not allowed to have ANY organized sound (singing, chanting, playing instruments) before their performance or it's a penalty. So apparently they got a penalty for saying "Amen" after a prayer or something.

@luke55698 - No. PR got 2nd place that year for 2 reasons:

1) SCV finished 2nd in '85, '86, '87, & '88. They weren't going to put them in 2nd, even with a weaker, recycled version of the previous year's show. (Which actually DESERVED to win.)

2) The percussion performance judge was known for years to be a hater of PR and dumped on them by half a point. This ridiculously biased score, by itself, handed SCV the title. This judge had never liked PR & so guaranteed they couldn't win.

he WORKED for phantom. Sam Pilafian/Pat Sheridan did a ton of work shops for the breathing gym at different corps. I know that they worked with Phantom for sure. But their main corps was with Academy.
